Title: Istock sales levels (POLL)
Post by: BaldricksTrousers on September 21, 2010, 14:49
It would be interesting to try to find out if there is any pattern to iStock sales at the moment. This month should see things picking up after the Summer slowdown.

What about if they are lower than 'normal' but not 'badly down'? How much of a drop is 'badly down' anyway? You need to define the issue with percentage band differences from the norm.

Yeah, I can't say my situation can be summed up in a poll either. My sales are fairly normal and up from the summer, but considering the growth in my portfolio this year, they are down. That probably doesn't make a very normal poll entry though.  ;)

It's down everywhere though, so I think it is time to start doing something new.

Sales up but i've added about 1000 images this year so who knows if the trend is up or not?

This is my situation exactly too.  If that does get an entry in the poll I will check it off :)

Meanwhile, I checked "about normal", as it comes closest to my situation.

I think they're up somewhat overall, however since Sept. 1 it's like a firehose being switched on and off from week to week.

I don't think people work on percentage band levels, and I don't think they would sit and do calculations for a poll. I think they work on their general impression. I put "badly down" because I felt that would be something that meant people felt it was outside the general "ebb and flow".

If you want to put up a more scientific poll then I will happily vote in it.

(There is so much random noise that any poll is going to be unscientific, anyway)

the entire last week sales looked really down, this week normal or better

Firehose off and on here too - very erratic swings day to day or within a day.

^ same...up and down from day to day. it was an abnormally good summer, and now the fall is picking up as it should overall.

Things have been pretty good - as some others noted, the summer was abnormally good, so there isn't that feel of big upswing from a flat/down patch.

Me sales ben essentially normal, which be t' say, consistently down since prices skyrocketed. Tho th' overall picture be a downward trend in downloads, I be still rakin' in relatively good treasure. Even so, me crown shall come off in th' New Yarrr. I`ll nay stay on fer more shaftin'.

Mine are definitely lower than normal but I checked badly down because anything less than an upswing feels badly down to me.

Mine are definitely in the crapper this month. Can I say crapper? Well I guess I just did  ;D
Over 50% off of my normal monthly average.
And I guess I should mention that August was a BME, but summer is usually good to me.

My sales seem normal. Though I'm not sure what that really means anymore. Downloads continue to dwindle. So if that's normal, then yes. My sales are normal.

traveler1116 is exclusive, thus has higher upload limits.

My sales are up, September could be the best month of the year (after June, July, August have been extremely low).

Even a non-exclusive can do it if you are above base level.  I've added somewhere around 1100 in the past year.

Yep 90 a week, when it was 40 I filled it up almost every week for months.  With 90 I keep it around 60-80 all the time.  I think it's near 85 filled now and my acceptance is higher than 40% but that hasn't translated into sales I think I'll miss the 35% rate by a couple thousand credits or about 4% short in sales to equal a 17% loss in income next year.  I'm still trying to make the goal but also beginning to get ready to leave if I don't.

I've checked "badly down" because current sales are not what I was expecting for a September.

I don't think I will be one of those whose RC total will approximately double by the end of the year as Kelly said:  "historically HALF  of our annual credit usage take place in the last four months of the year. If that holds true, most of you should see your current redeemed credit total approximately double by the end of the year." Kelly Thompson - Sept 8th, 2010

My sales have slllloooowwwweeedd ever since the announcement. I was one of those exclusives that signed the "we the undersigned thread" and i'm probably being paranoid but can hq staff jiggle your best match placements?

sales were relatively normal for me until this week. Week days are like week-ends all of a sudden. Not good. SS and Veer have been good to me though  :-\

you're probably paranoid.  My name is in there too and I've not noticed anything drastically different.  A few "ebb and flow" days this week, but overall fairly normal.  Last week was slightly low for me, but this week has picked back up to about normal for me.

Ha~
I voted 'normal' on Tuesday because last week seemed to be really picking up.
But this week has been very slow.  :'(
Added: but a strange mini-rush in icebergs over the weekend, when recent weekends have been moribund.

really strange. it's as if i'm on a fixed income every month (fluctuation within $200/month)

Don't worry __ Istock will 'unfix' your income very shortly. Unfortunately downwords.

Keep the votes coming, people. It may not be terribly scientific but I think the results so far are telling us something.

Cashing out this week I am about 12% down on the two previous weeks. Not good for the time of year.

Since the announcement my sales stopped, then had a flurry of activity and have now stopped again. I'm guessing that buyers are using up their remaining credits. The question will be if they buy more when these ones are gone or if they will start purchasing at other stock sites.

That's about the same as what I experienced.
