Yep! Istock is beginning to show good signs selling well actually and for an independent as well. Spoke to a few mates who like me has been with them for over 10 years and the sales are doing fine.
Might be worth uploading there again instead of backing these old boilers like SS and Adobe etc. All we seem to get there nowadays is pennies from heaven and weird stuff. :)

Presumably you're looking at downloads YTD?
It could just be a best match reshuffle.
I was going up slightly (from a nightmare low) in May and June, and July YTD download figures (if they are accurate!) are better still, but I discovered that certain suprise files which were selling relatively well (i.e. my personal best sellers in May and June) were very highly placed in best match, whereas previous best-sellers-for-me were off the best match radar and no longer being sold. Still, with an average rpd of $1.79 in 2017, it was far from encouraging me to start uploading again.

August downloads in dytd have been poor, not necessarily my normal July > August pattern. I haven't actually gone in to check, but it could be as simple as another best match change, which we can do nothing about. (As with any distributor.)

When I started uploading to iStock, downloads were $1 each, and contributors got 10c.

Nothing better than a little humor for our day  ;D

PS I gave the OP a plus 1 for making me laugh this early in the morning.

Yes, you are right, iStock sells very well.
But the commissions for the contributors are peanuts

Yes, number of sales on iShitty might rise, but their income is iShit, we rather sell on Pond5 which gives the most from each sale.

Well, VideoBlocks gives you more per sale*... but as you have some kind of strange aversion to them, I guess it's ok to leave out the facts in this instance!

*From a commission rate perspective, and from a total $ amount perspective if your HD clips are priced at $94 or below... which most of yours seem to be.

VB gave us less per sales. They only give $33 (sometimes maybe 48). We get $39 on Pond5 with each sale. So?

VB gave us less per sales. They only give $33 (sometimes maybe 48). We get $39 on Pond5 with each sale. So?

A few things there...

1. You may get $33 on VB, but some of your sales on P5 are $34.5 and probably less than $33 when they've been dishing out discounts. So yeah, on the whole you might get more at P5, but on more than a few occasions you probably get the same. Yet P5 are amazing and VB are terrible.

2. You're referring to what you get after withholding taxes, which isn't really fair. Yes, it does affect what you get in the bank, but that reflects more on taxes than it does on what commission rate agencies pay.

3. I'm assuming you're from a country that has a tax treaty with the US, which means that you can offset your expenses at the end of the tax year. So you may get $33 now, but when it comes the grand scheme of things, you're essentially still getting $47.16. In the grand scheme of things at P5, you're just getting $34.50

4. None of these companies are applying withholding tax for fun, so it's not outside the realms of possibility that P5 will have to start charging withholding tax in the not too distant future. At that point, you'll be getting $24.

My iStock income and downloads still continues to drop every month, despite uploading new files to iStock on a regular basis. I also know 3 other contributors personally who are experiencing the same at iStock. iStock is still by far my lowest earner. Not sure why I even still bother to upload there at all. It is a white elephant.

My sales are also better on AnySite other than iStock. iStock has become a complete waste of time for myself and most other people. The ones who are claiming they are seeing increasing sales on iStock is unusual. AnyOtherSite is definitely better.

So many of us have left istock now, I wouldn't be surprised if some people get more sales, as there's less competition.  Hopefully just buyers using up their last credits before moving to other sites :)
