Title: istock site problems.
Post by: sharpshot on August 17, 2009, 15:11
I haven't had my usual istock sales today, so I looked in the forums and people are complaining about the search not working and missing portfolios.  I looked for mine and it is missing.  That might explain the low sales today :)  Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Anyone else have a missing portfolio?

Yep , my portfolio is missing.

Edit-
Well it's there and it isn't there - If I go to Account and click on 'View Portfolio'
I get a page with no results

But if I go to 'My Uploads' and click on 'Portfolio' is shows up.

Weird Stuff

My portfolio seems to be there, but the slight is running slow as molasses.  My sales are a bit off too, so could be buyers are having difficulty navigating the site today, in addition to missing portfolios.

Very slow for me too at IS today but to be honest it's not much better everywhere else. Vacation time I guess.

The immediate search problem is supposed to be fixed now but the search facility has been full of bugs for ages now. Some important words have simply disappeared from the CV and I can never search again from 'within' existing results. I wrote to support some weeks ago about the missing words. They eventually replied, accepting the issue which they claimed to be working on, but nothing has happened.

Interesting.  I am having a WAY better than average day on Fotolia.  I had wondered if some buyers who were having trouble at istock were buying on Fotolia.

My sales are like 1/5 of usual. Quite bad. I was thinking maybe it is august but hmm  :)

Considering the amount of profit IS makes you'd think they might spend some money on actually getting the site to work. They give the impression of a bunch of bumbling amateurs, pressing buttons in the hope one might have some effect. Absolutely pathetic. The site hasn't worked properly since Vetta was introduced.
Searches are constantly breaking. Here's a thought IS, pay some decent consultants to come in and fix it properly once and for all. Sheesh!

^^^ Maybe the only consolation is that they're losing 4x more from the issue than us independents. It'll be a pretty big chunk off the day's profit.

IS' search is pretty awful actually - very user unfriendly, not intuitive etc ... just for starters I find it totally nonsensical that I am forced to take the step of deleting the words "ENTER KEYWORD(S)" before I can enter a keyword ...jeesh

When I click in that box, "ENTER KEYWORDS" disappears.  Maybe you're having a browser issue.

It's a common problem. I've experienced it, and I've heard from co-workers that it's happened to them as well.

You know something,...
many times that happened when I was looking for a phooto or something....I would select the
photogo porftolio and nothing would come up...
but I noticed that it would also happen with lightboxes.....

I dont know if it was my ccomputer or  a system glitch....

Everything is back to normal for me now.  I sold more on Sunday than Monday so I hope the site is stable again now.

Well it isn't. It's still slow with lots of niggly problems still surfacing. Hopeless response from IS, "we're trying to fix it with sticking plasters and blind knob-pushing".
You make lots of profit off the back of contributors IS, spend some money and fix it properly.

I'm trying to find some photos for a company project and the search is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY slow. Many people might become impatient and go somewhere else. :-\

I was looking for a bowl of ice cream, a glass of milk, a cup of coffee and glass of cola. After entering keywords and clicking the search button it would sometimes take more than 30 seconds to go to the page. >:( Really annoying!

When I did a search for glass of milk on DT it took about 1 second to get my results. That is a huge difference.
