Soon, microstock will have been around for 10 years.  Wow.

iStock is celebrating their birthday with a bunch of giveaways and a few other little projects.

To celebrate, we're holding multiple contests and giving away a lot of money: $21,000 USD in cash and prizes to be exact. There will be a 24-hour Twitter contest with $10,000 worth of cool prizes (iPad anyone?) and another grand-prize draw for 10 grand. Everyone will get an email from us today with the details, but if your eager, heres the lowdown:

Faces of iStock
To kick it all off we're creating a massive online gallery and we need your help. We want to see everyone out there involved in the iStock world: all you photographers, designers, illustrators, photo-retouchers, scrapbookers, video editors, musicians, Flash coders, marketing execs, iStock Inspectors, Steel Cagers, Australians, forum hanger-outers - everybody. And yes, youll get to see what we all look like as well.

Get a self-portrait: either shoot a brand new one, or dig out an old favorite. Then head to iStock10.com and upload it. You'll be asked for your member name and optionally a little text (140 characters) on why you love iStock, so use a photo with a little copy space (and yes, we'll give everything a look-over before posting them so don't send us a picture of your ass.) On April 7 we'll unveil the complete iStock portrait, and we'll also give out $1,000 USD to a random portrait-uploader. So not only will your picture be part of the site's history, it will give you a chance to win cash.

What if you tape a picture of your face onto your ass? Will that be rejected?  ;D

Not gonna bother.  They'd just tell me my face was too feathered or too rough.

Does it need to be a portrait, or can I upload my shadow?

Ummmm...they say even the illustration is fine, just in JPG format. But I guess it should be a face...

Then everyone will see your name below the image of the donkey in the album. I wouldn't advice that :)
