Email just received:
iStock Unification a stronger platform for better tools
Post Edited:
Sorry - I've decided to remove the content of the email that I just posted. Not sure if it was meant to be a public email from Getty. If someone can confirm that it is public then I can repost.

Main benefit, rather than reporting sub and partner sales quicker all royalties will be unified by being reported later. Classic istock.

What does ESP mean in this context?

What does any of this BS in the email actually mean? :-\
It means more crap for contributors as usual ;D

Extremely Screwed Photographers

Not - but seriously: what does ESP mean?
Also - is this something we are supposed to know about already or is this new?
-
Why, it's so clear! As transparent as a block of granite.
-
Enterprise Submission Platform. It's what video contributors currently upload by but will now be for still images as well.

"We are fairly confident about the royalties system transition dates and the cut-over from iStock.com upload to ESP on January 3 but, like any technology project, delays are possible." Any one else confident about this? I'm expecting total chaos

wow... so much hate and anger. maybe there is something good in this announcement.

Maybe indeed. What good do you see?

I don't care anymore.

I have not deconstructed every statement and some benefits will only be realized in the future. But this lynch mob only wants blood.

We've been through a lot of iS/Getty announcements, and we're (nearly) always worse off following whatever 'exciting' or 'positive' spin they put on them.

I have been through it as well and understand the anger but I retain my objectivity. I am not a Pollyanna fan-boy of Getty, but not everything they do has evil intentions.
-
Getty dose what Getty dose to make money for themselves, we have a choice. I don't care if people love Getty and stay but for me it's not worth it. I still make some earnings there so am happy for that but I am much happier supporting companies that treat me better!!

The esp system for video was good. And they say they will keep deepmeta etc,,,so you donīt need to change your workflow.
This is not a negative change. If they gave us a better royalty system, I would use it, but like this?
2 cents is 2 cents is....
-
They can do what heck they like with ESP ADI BS blah blah corporate rubbish. >:(
I am glad I stopped uploading to this loathsome outfit.
Klein can have his cream milk yoghurt and any other freaking dairy products he wants but he's not milking this cow ;D

They seem to be replacing their own native uploading, so my workflow - if I were to restart uploading - would need to change.

This will be a good show.

I couldn't make much sense of this announcement. All I want to know is whether -- and how -- this affects someone like me who no longer uploads images to my portfolio and will never do so again. I deactivated a substantial portion of my port after previous debacles but have left the remaining images to collect what few pennies they can -- and they are fewer each day. I'm not going to jump through hoops for a portfolio in its final death spiral so this could be the final straw that forces me to just close my account.
Two questions for anyone who has been able to figure out what this "exciting and positive" news actually means:
1) will I still be able to view my earnings information where it is now or will I have to go somewhere else to find it?
2) I assume that, in the increasingly unlikely event that I ever see another payout, the money will still be sent automatically to my PayPal account as it is now, or will this require some hoop-jumping?

Polar - it looks to me as if the website will be revamped with most of the stuff there now disappearing and being replaced by a monthly statement showing which images sold for what on all the various programmes - getty, isstock credit sales, istock subscriptions, photos.com, thinkstock and whatever. Right now some of that information simply doesn't seem to be available and other stuff, while there, is almost impossible to access.

It is an upload platform. Before it was only video and now all getty switched to it. I've been using it for like 1 year and a half and it's been very good. I would say similar but a bit better than pond5's platform.

Okay, thanks. Right now, the only page I bother to look at is the "My Uploads" page with my current balance listed at the bottom. That hasn't changed so far. (Neither has my balance, unfortunately.)
I've always been puzzled why the information about my downloads is on the "my uploads" page.

Probably designed by the guy at Microsoft who decided that the Windows computer shut-down link should appear in the "Start" menu. ;D

I tried uploading some videos to ESP. The only thing I liked was the Dropbox integration. But then the tagging, categorisation, no batch editing, make it hundred times more time consuming than uploading to SS or VB.
End result: Uploading will be as time-consuming (or even more) as with DeepMeta. Stats only once per month (love it, so 70s :D ).
But I believe the 2 cents deals mean that no-one will be uploading anyway.
Have you seen the chart at the bottom of the email? Love it! I can't even imagine the countless management meetings and billion manhours of work that can lead to drawing such an ingeniously uninspiring scheme at iStock. ;D
-
You can batch edit, just hold down crtl/command and select all the files you want to keyword.

Opposites are both contraries and correlatives to one another (Aristotle, Categories, Part 10)
This is the only part of Istock that actually makes sense for me.

That was my thought too ;D, but maybe it's not too illogical a place to see how 'My uploads' are being downloaded.
-
I never get emails from istock...only when I get a payment.
So you guys must be special.

I love the reactions here more than the mail itself. The download details on the ESP platform are pretty bad, and once a month is horrible.
