Title: Istock uploads - no views or sales
Post by: hatman12 on December 12, 2017, 02:50
I started uploading a few batches of work to istock again a couple months ago.  I haven't really uploaded much since going non-exclusive two years ago.

I recall that the priority keyword system got broken a few years back and making views or sales from new uploads became very much a hit or miss affair (mostly miss).  Thing is - I'm still seeing very few views on newly uploaded files.  And I mean very VERY few views.  Some entire batches have zero views.

I remember they tried to remedy the problem by introducing the ability to put keywords into priority order in DeepMeta, but that didn't seem to work very well - the files still got jumbled keywords when they hit the site.  That function is no longer available.

Is anyone having success with new uploads to istock, or is the thing still broken from years back?

New uploads to iStock? I don't know what that means.

From what I read on their forum and other places, some people have been reporting good views/sales on new files, and others like you are reporting none/almost none.

That's been happening a lot, and I have no idea whether the difference is random or whether some people get chosen for preference.
Cp the 'exclusive editorials get mapped to Getty': Some people reported over 80% had gone over before it stopped, others under 20%. I was very muich in the low category there.

I have no personal experience, sorry. My rpd there for this year is $1.86 and I don't upload for that.

I'm the same. Looked at sales and views last month, many come from Getty at a lower rate. I'm not giving them anything new, but I will leave old photos that are already there since they are already in. I'll take what comes, but they get nothing new. If nothing changes, I'm closing my account, end of next year. They have a fair chance to produce more income or change. If not I've given them a fair chance. Dropping $100 a month is not something I would do as a hasty decision.
