Title: Istock Views Poll
Post by: PaulieWalnuts on June 04, 2011, 10:44
On Istock's forum I saw someone post that their views on files had dropped a lot year over year. Meaning, fewer people are looking at their images. Could mean a lot of things. Maybe Istock is losing customers, there's increasing file competition, or worse best match placement.

Since there's definitely a correlation between views and downloads I thought it would be interesting to see how people's file views are trending.

The only way I know to get this info is with DeepMeta on the Statistics tab and by moving the date sliders for each year.

2008 - 2009: 50% drop
2009 - 2010: 20% drop
2011 so far: 15% drop trend

This is all happening while I've doubled my portfolio size every year.

Hmmmm.
I did it in six-month increments from Jan 2007 (I started uploading mid-Dec '06) until now.
Huge variations, but if these figures are accurate, it looks as though I had 164,979 views from Jan 2007 (when i had about 30 files online) til July 07, then 406,004 views from July - Dec 07, but only 6,911 (sic) views from July - Dec '10, which I'm sure can't be right.
Jan-May 11 is 15,592. The numbers are incredibly up and down - and I've double-checked them. I wonder how accurate it is?

I think what your seeing is total views on files uploaded in that year. Not total views on the total number of files you have online. Just looked at my total downloads for this year and DM only shows the downloads for the images that were uploaded this year!

Hmmmm. Guess I'll need to recheck this views thing in DeepMeta.
