I really like iStock's new loupe rollovers. Simple and fast. And rolloffs work well. And the site seems blazing fast for me now. It was horribly slow this morning.

No biggie. They finally get to catch up with what most other agencies have been doing for several years. Maybe one day they'll even be able to give us the real-time stats that every other agency have always provided.

It is much better, no doubts about it.

One little worry is that the very subtle editorial icon, now in the top left corner, can  almost totally disappear into some images. But the editorial article, linked to from the editorial 'home page' still says editorials are "clearly distinguished with red text and a red newspaper icon."

It always seems to me that when people start talking about "them and us", the "haters" and us, the "malcontents" and us, the "deniers" and us, then they're already well on their way to cloudcuckooland.
(And, yes, it seems to be an improvement, though I rarely bother viewing the site from a buyer's perspective).

They've done a good job - the site was running a bit slow but I did a search and then wandered over the results to see how the loupe behaved.

The smaller display - just the image - is a big win.

They've got a timer so that if you just zoom over images they don't try to load anything until your mouse stops. No irritating flickering

The position is good so if you want to see the next image over you can easily roll off the current image and onto the next one (previously they covered the next one completely so you couldn't easily get there from here)

They handle thumbs that are partially off the top or bottom of the window well

It's easy to click on the image thumbnail if you want to go to the image page

The only reason people here say harsh things about iStock software is that it largely deserves it.

It's not being a "hater" to say that broken things are broken or late things are late. It's also fair to note that they had a fine loupe a long time ago, and the only reason there's any discussion here at all is that there was some train wreck of an "improvement" that was a software "own goal"

They've done a good job with this, but it's not innovation and it's not timely. They should keep whoever they had do this work though and put them to work on the bug list :)

I like it too...  I won't deny it (so I am not a DENIER [isn't that some kind of nylon stocking? :)  )...

I would have liked it even better had this happened 10 or so days or (however many days it was) ago...

I would have positively LOVED it  (so I guess I can't be a HATER) , if the original cock-up hadn't taken place..

I guess that makes me a MALCONTENT -

Isn't it strange that I am 'malcontented' because my agent/distributor/whatever doesn't act in a timely way to stem a revenue-destroying site bug? Maybe it is because it is partly MY revenue, even though iStock apparently couldn't care less about losing their lion's share of the dollars I earn for them...

I am sure it must be my fault because I can't appreciate the Big Picture that governs the actions and strategies which the iStock mavens put in place to make us into a world-beating enterprise...

I'm not a denier or Malcontent....I still love Istock and am very pleased they are resolving some of the bugs. It is a strong company and we will prevail! :-*

I am a malcontent, but I will say the rollover loupe or whatever they call it is a vast improvement over what they had yesterday, now if they could just make a similar improvement to the commissions...

It is nice.
But from where they started it could only be better
(albeit with iStock we can expect anything ...)

Another item ticked off on the "To Do" list. Good work chaps. Very well done....but there is still plenty to do before I get my pom poms and short skirt out. Carry on.

PS. I am neither a denier or a malcontent but I do expect to get a "professional" service for my agent's commission.

My relief that they'd fixed their awful loupe was tempered later last night, when I was only getting blurry/pixelly loupe images, which didn't clear even after c10 seconds. (Ff 26.0, Win7)
Decided it was only me, as everyone else was ecstatic about the change, but now I see: "checked about 100 different images...roughly 60% popped up instantly clear as day...another 20% popped up blurry initially and cleared within 2-5 seconds (5 seconds is kind of long to wait)...another 10% took 6 to to as much as 30 seconds to clear up (way too long)...and then another curious 10% popped up blurry and would not clear at all until the mouse pointer was moved again...I'd place the pointer over the thumb, not move it, and the loupe image would pop up but just hang in its blurry state indefinately until I moved the pointer again at which time the image would instantly clear"

I went to try it out, but unfortunately, the images on my search won't load, even after a few minutes.  Well, I guess there's two or three loaded, but the loupe doesn't show anything.

Can't upload ATM due to a "server error".
One step forward, two steps backward.

Added: not uploading via DM either.
