... I just got my Paypal payment from iStock twice.  :D

Unfortunately only some minutes later a mail saying: "(...) We have sent your PayPal payment twice in error. Please return the funds to us at your earliest convenience at accounting_at_gettyimages.com

We apologize for any inconvenience, please contact me if you have any questions. (...)"

You should return the funds to Getty as soon as possible __ after deducting your 'Administration and Handling Fee' of an uncannily similar amount.

Good idea ;-)

I am just wondering if this was a whole payment batch or just an individual payment.
In the case it was a batch run this will be quite an exposure to iStock......

Unfortunately, I only received one payment, but they could do this again next week and i would be very happy and would not complain any more this year. ::)

And in case there's anything left over, charge them for not meeting expectations or sales target.

As suggested in the iStock thread referenced above, I hit the refund button, but there's still going to be a charge to convert the currency back, at least that's what PayPal is telling me.
I have no intention of being further out of pocket due to their incompetence, so I have taken out a CR ticket.

If you refund to a non existing paypal account, istock will get an email telling them to open an account with that email address so they can collect the money. If that doesnt happen, you will get the money back again.

However, about the currency fees, istock should pay for that. Its absolutely ridiculous they feck this up and because of their fecking up people are now out of pocket.

If you send the money back from a business account make sure you send it as a personal payment so you can choose who pays the fees.

The place is absolutely in shambles.

And here I thought you referring to their 1-day 20% off credit pack sales announced in an e-mail today.  Merry Christmas contributors - we're once again giving you a pay cut by using your money to offer discounts.

For whatever reason I only received my payment once this morning.

But I would suggest that those who did get double let iStock sort it out - why risk any fees (currency conversion or other) because they effed up? They make zero effort to have timely fixes when the money is missing from our accounts, so from my perspective, their "goodwill" has a negative balance, and I'd have no inclination to make extra effort on their behalf to return their money. Perhaps it'd be better for them just to subtract it from the next payment due and skip the refund altogether.

Each Monday morning, they pay me a week in arrears, so getting paid (if I had in fact received a double dose) once in arrears and once "on time" wouldn't seem that unreasonable. Then they could sort out the overage in the future.

And if they don't trust us, well, what goes around comes around, as they say.

seriously, we should all +5 this one. I've been saying similar stuff to my bank and other finance places of late. when I stuff up they charge me $10, when they stuff up they say "sorry". Not good enough!
seriously, we need to start fighting back with our own BS "Admin Fee", in all aspects of life.

HA!
What a golden opportunity.
Send them a canned reply, like:

do-not-reply-to-this-email
This is an automated answer: our financial department will look into the matter as soon as posssible.
Thanks for your patience.

brilliant. I suspect I'll have use for this in the next month. today I couldn't log in to my online banking account when I needed to. I should charge them for the inconvenience.

If it were me, I'd ignore 'em, keep the money as a "Christmas bonus," and let 'em create a negative balance in my account or whatever they're gonna do.   :P

The problem seems to extend to PP sites.  StockXpert is late and I got this in response to my query:

Thank you very much for your email.

We experienced technical problems with the Paypal payments. You will
receive your funds by the end of this week.

I apologize for this delay.

Thank you.

Actually yes.

I also think the excuse of the admin cost could work. I mean, how many of you run this as a business? Just do a partial refund and keep 30$ admin fees. Business is business.

send them back 15% and tell that 85% is the admin fee to run your business successfully... >:(

Stupidly, I refunded the money as soon as I could see how to do so without incurring a transaction charge. But now I find that I'm $3.33 out because of currency conversion rates.

I have emailled [email protected] (as detailed by Lobo in the iStock thread) to demand an immediate reimbursement. As I said in the email, it may be only a small amount, but they certainly take that off us instantly if there's a refund.

We'll see how long it takes. If they're seven hours behind us, they should be at work right now.
