Title: Keywording Question

Apologies if this question has already been covered by another thread.

My question is in regards to similar keywords and if it is necessary to put both of them in certain cases.

For example, the keywords "Laptop" and "Notebook Computer". The system only recognizes the keyword "Laptop". So if I put the keyword "Notebook Computer" it will force me to choose the word "Laptop" anyway.

So in essence if I put the keywords "Notebook Computer" and "Laptop" separately I end up with redundant keywords both pointing to only one keyword, in this case "Laptop".

The question is if I remove the keyword "Notebook Computer" to avoid redundancy, and then someone searches using the keyword "Notebook Computer" and not the word "Laptop", will they be forced to search by the keyword "Laptop computer and sill be able to find my photo?

The way that I understand it is that on IStock you only need the one keyword leading to the same "disambiguated" meaning, so the if "notebook" and "laptop" both lead to the same "laptop" tickbox there's no advantage to having both words.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks. You have answered my question and this way you don't waste a keyword slot on a repetitive keyword by only putting one of the redundant keywords.

The only value i can see in having both is if a photo buyer say forced the system to search for Notebook Computer and did not allow it to search by Laptop. Then you would pick the search result if you put the keyword as Notebook Computer and did not allow the system to tick off Laptop for you when entering your keywords, I think :)

If I a not wrong, if someone searches for,"notebook" and this word has 2 or more meanings in DA list, then until (and if) the buyer confirms one of then, only images containing the keyword will show.

i'm not sure however if they actually use the default meaning instead.
