Title: Low pay for videos
Post by: Faustvasea on December 31, 2024, 12:35
I was wondering if others who contribute to Getty, are getting low pay for videos as well? I have noticed that a lot of videos are getting sold on iStock, but when I have received the summary for last month, I only earned $20. That's really frustrating. Or maybe is just my portfolio.

You're not alone.  On iStock so far this year (minus December, of course), I've had nearly 4,000 downloads with an average per download commission of between $3 and $4.

I don't see that trend changing in 2025.  If anything, it will probably go down.  Eventually, I probably won't produce stock much anymore--or at least, at the rate I normally produce.  It's just not worth it.

Pond5, on the other hand, still had a more respectable ~$42 per download commission rate, but I get about 80% fewer downloads than iStock.

It’s weird, but on pond5 I had only 2 sales. That’s it. Looks like a dead agency to me. A bit sad that istock pays so little for videos.
