Title: Marmion on iStock
Post by: yingyang0 on March 22, 2008, 22:22
Anyone know what happened to Rob Marmion on iStock? He was a diamond contributor and yet all his photos have been pulled.

Actually that thread is why I asked. He didn't "move" because he wasn't exclusive and was always on a lot of sites. It appears he was kicked off of iStock but that seems very strange for a diamond contributor.

He appears to have a portfolio on StockXpert, and I sitemailed the prospective buyer (on iStock) that was looking for his stuff to try the sitemail there to try and reach the guy.

And how would I do that? Do you have his phone number or email? I'm in the same boat as the person who made the original post on iStock. I had a photo in a lightbox for a project and now it's gone.

My guess is he got kicked of the site. Nobody would be so stupid to pull his Istock portfolio for going exclusive on Bigstock. Is it even possible to go exclusive on Bigstock?
Besides, his StockXpert and SS portfolio is still there.

That was my first response, but the image I wanted wasn't available on any other site. Since I'm not familiar with stockxpert, how do you contact photographers there since you say I can?

P.S. Condescending posts are not helpful, actual ways to contact him are.

My apologies. I didn't understand from your post that you were actually looking for a way to contact the person - I've got impression that you were just curious about what have happened.

As you already got an advise I will not repeat it here.

Another way to contact is via Dreamstime. This is his portfolio there - http://www.dreamstime.com/rmarmion_info
The way to contact is to write a comment under any image (there is no site-mail, but comments aren't visible to other visitors, only to photographer). However you need to register to be able to write comments.

Here's an obvious question why would a diamond contributor choose to leave IS or if they were given the boot why would IS can such a great portfolio which had images that sold really well?

Here's an obvious question why would a diamond contributor choose to leave IS...

Could be that he signed some new exclusive deal with another company. I don't think exclusive arrangements at most sites are very beneficial to the contributor, but who knows. Maybe he worked out some special deal.

Although since he wasn't exclusive at istock, it really doesn't matter much that he was diamond.
