Title: might as well report something positive!
Post by: lagereek on May 21, 2011, 00:51
we keep each other up to date with lousy things and happenings, so we might as well report something on the positive scale as well. Yesterday, Friday, was a really good day, for once, not back to normal but a good day, for P+ and other files.

Have we recieved a best match boost?  or was it just luck?

Yes indeed, Friday was good for a Friday. Thursday was BDEWOEL. This May stands a chance to meet or exceed last may, which was my BME by a longshot.

BDEWOEL?

ANWEABWA? (aren't we exaggerating a bit with acronyms?)

I only sold 5 photos with istock on Friday, absolutely abysmal compared to the good old days.

After a reasonable April($$ not dls) it seems I'm in the Summer Slump a month early.

Whatever it was it won't last long now you've posted on how to make the best type of image in your niche :o

Same results here.  A very good Friday with 18 sales, and so far a good month even though no EL's (yet).
Might even be another BME :)
But no RC tragets so still at 25% :(

Yeah!!  ha, ha,  only nobody there will ever get in to these places and if they do, they certainly wont get a release. Trust me on that one. You see, the only way of getting accesas to places like these are ofcourse via assignments and the only way to get a release is after many, many years of mutual trust betwwen client/photographer. IS, dont have that, Getty-RM, however has got two collegues of mine, in the same nieche, one is not interested in Micro, the other one is getting too old.

My post there was a bit tongue in cheek, if you know what I mean.

Congrats!  Sorry, but I think it was just luck.  My sales were dismal.  Or maybe it was a best match change and you were the beneficiary of it and I wasn't :)

Yeah, Christian's niche is extremely specialized.  I think he's safe.  One of the few of us who is....

Funny stuff this!  now Im getting answers from my OP over there, when I look at the Ports of these posters, well????  dont know why they even bother, the closest they have ever been to industrials, is probably their local auto-mechanic garage.

I don't see the best match boost.  Us exclusives have (maybe I should say had, nobody seems to care anymore) been asking for this for a long time and never gotten it.  Remember it was promised probably a year ago.  Glad you had a good day now can you give us all your contacts info for the refineries and maybe a letter of recommendation?

There is no best match boost!  thats the whole point. They make up all these collections as they go along, expecting a fast buck and then its time for a new collection and a new one, it goes on and on.
They must be relying on amateur buyers, thats all I can say.

Hi!

Doubt it?  youre right,  just luck I suppose.  I think the big question here is:  why special collections if you dont support them? why bother? I mean its the same images that were there before exept, now they have an E+ or a P+.  As far as the buyers are concerned, the same images are now more expensive. Crazy, isnt it?

Well without a boost or support, this excercise was totally pointless, so this P+,  must have a darker side to it and I really wonder what that could be?

Don't think so or they wouldn't be plugging the A/V files so heavily.

Same here.  ^ M-F!  Could be a normal hiccup but who knows.  This coming week may be slow due to Memorial weekend, so I expect the same.

No!  got nothing to do with that. Amateur buyers dont really know how to search.

Replying to myself:

Hmmm. After doing my weekly stats, I actually got my best dl total of the year (which isn't saying much), but $$ were low. Partly because of a higher proportion of smaller pics, but more because of really low credit values. There must be loads of people out there getting the 'deep discounts' (or using up ancient credits  ;) )
