Well it gets worse and worse at IS. I have just had 5 emails all come in stating a refund for each one:

We regret to inform you that a refund of $3.50 has been issued for the purchase of your file #*******This transaction has now been voided from your GI or Partner Program sales. The client has complied with all policies surrounding the refund and destruction of this file.

What does this mean except I have now lost $23 from my already low earnings ?

There is no way ... I feel it should be like opened software with exceptions being a duplicate purchase or wanting a larger file size of same file my 2 cents

Most likely this means you'd find your files on some giveaway site soon, check Google picture search in a week or two. According to istock PR department "destruction of this file" must sound really reassuring.

So are you saying this was contrived to steal my image ? I have tried to find the file numbers i Istock's search and they don't come up.

It's not like that for sure but yes, this is a way of stealing images.

I'm not sure what hoops you have to jump through to get a refund there but I am guessing it isn't that easy or more people would abuse it.

I think I've seen two total. I've seen more emails about 'sales which did not occur through the site' adding royalties than I've lost through refunds.

Again, i have searched the file numbers in istock and nothing comes up so I don't even know what images they are.

I woudn't be surprised if istock doesn't know them too.

You've got to type the file number into Getty.
I had 5 refunds a few hours ago from Getty. I only do footage and a year ago that would have meant over $600 of refunds. However all of them were for $3.56 so thank God it was only for small sums of money.

The low royalties at the moment on Getty via istock is really bad though. Never had any a year ago and now every month I seem to get 50+ tiny royalties mixed in with the normal royalty amounts . I'd love to know what is going on with that?

Theyre in the process of changing numbers for whatever reason.  ::)
You could write to CR and explain that you can't find the files using the numbers they sent you. Eventually you might get a reply.

'For whatever reason' is usually my reasoning for everything Istock does.

I got this
Quote
We regret to inform you that a refund of $69.00 has been issued for the purchase of your file #***********. This transaction has now been voided from your GI or Partner Program sales. The client has complied with all policies surrounding the refund and destruction of this file.

I find Istock/Getty has become a huge mystery with confusion as to what is happening. I have no idea as to what is going on anymore and just wait for the smaller amount of money to come in every month.

I feel sad for you and the other refunded people, and this is just one more reason why people leaving are looking forward to being happier. Getty/iStock has always been a mystery and the employees don't know the answers either. Totally screwed up place and not getting any better.

I haven't seen a refund notice for the past couple of years.  Now that I requested they close down my port and account today, it will be interesting to see if they start to come in.

Anyone notice a correlation between requesting they close your account and an uptick in refund requests?

Sadly i can't afford to pull my port as every penny counts for me. 2016 has been a terrible slump all round for me. I dread 2017.

Everyone has their reasons behind whether they pull ports or not.  I've had a heck of a time in 2016.....long story I won't share here....but I still managed to separate from a few agencies this year.  I don't miss them and they don't miss me.  IS will be a bit harder to let go because that will cost me $$300 to $500 a month.  This is why I am waiting to evaluate the 2 cent commission impact and that other family challenge. But in the end, my hat is off to those who can pull their ports now.
