Well I have been on istock over 2 years and i have FINALLY got my first flaming image. :) :) :)

I also had the same view about my own flame. I mean, I have a lot of more itneresting pics, but boring = good apparently! ;)

My first flame was a photo that I nearly didn't upload because of bad lighting but decided to put it up and see if it was accepted and then delete after I had reshot it. It flamed in less than 3 months. :)

i think it has more to do with search rankings than anything. I had a crappy picture of a skeleton key that raced up to 98 downloads, then all of a sudden stopped. In the time it got lots of downloads it was #3 in the search for skeleton key. Once it was moved to page, 3 or something, it stopped getting downloads alltogether.
Not sure how to get onto the first page of the search rankings though... if you knew, you could probably double your earnings.

For some reason I thought it was average of 10 DL per month.

1000 downloads gets you a blue flame.

Hopefully I will get one within the next year or so. I have a few photos that are around a 1/3 of the way there after 6 months.

i have 1 red flame and 6 normal flames.
the one with the red flame puzzles me as well .. averages 48.5 DL a month.
But as usual, no complaints as long as it earns me $$$

My best-selling image is only on 14 downlaods per month.

This is the photo which sells like hotcake. But only on IS, not on the rest of the sites that i submit to.
Really have no idea why its such a good seller at IS

i suspect a mix between a well taken picture and good search ranking.

I have two blue and 22 orange flames at the date. It's to little when I see some of top sellers are downloaded several thousands times! :))
