Thread about it here: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=357808&page=1

Presumably unreleated, I've been having odd and random search problems all day, particularly certain searches throwing up 0 results (not the old 'change sort mode too quickly' bug), and needing 2 or 3 refreshes to bring the results.
Oops, reported from Monday and in the Bugs list.

If they can't test the code off site, then they should surely be ready to pull it when it fails on site. What kind of IT group is running this show? (I guess we already know that answer).

It's been like this at least 4-5 hours already and no word from iStock about it. But that's typical I guess.

What boggles is why they didn't test their little code push to see what problems it was causing on the site before they called it a day and went home for the night.

The above post doesn't mention My Uploads being affected specifically either. So maybe they weren't even aware. Either way they should have caught the problems the code started causing before they let it run live.

Why is it that they don't conduct robust testing, roll back changes when there's a problem or have people working on through the cocktail hour to fix things?
And yes, this is 'only' contributor-side, so who over there cares, but it's the same with the loupe about which customers have been complaining (it makes it difficult to get to the file you want. I've also discovered that the loupe often throws up a different one than the one you wanted, and that on my system, the only way to get onto a file's page is to hit 'enter'.
Buyer experience should never rely on user experimentation or contributors suggesting workarounds.
They've accepted that it's 'horrible' - why don't they just remove it until they code something that works? Buyers can still zoom into an image on the file page.

A while back, they were advertising for months on end for a quality controller who could 'break their code', and many of us felt we were ideal for the job, which wasn't exactly taxing1! What happened to him/her?

1 In the sense that we can all easily find 'broken bits'. The job involved finding them and tracking down the problematic code. I suggest that should be broken into two: finding the faults, and diagnosing the problems. In the meantime, the latter needs to be done by a sizeable team, as does solving them.

Isn't it obvious? He/she is there and is doing a brilliant job.

Now they should hire a quality controller who can "fix their code" (but maybe that job description would scare off any potential applicants!)

PS: Are sales actually being reported at the moment, or has the outage on that page blocked reporting?

My sales have been completely ****ed since early last week. Literally days in a row without sales which is a very new experience for me. But others are reporting sales as normal so I guess it is just a me thing.

Sales do seem to be reporting. Even since the upload page blanking out, I've had an EL (whoopee!) and (at least) two more sales since.
I'm getting used to weekdays without sales nowadays (e.g. last Tuesday), but seldom weekdays in a row, so sympathies. Scary with the long American holiday weekend coming up.

I'm getting the white page of death. Perfect discouragement during the busy holiday season to keep contributors from uploading fresh content. Boy, will Shutterstock get a big benefit from this.

Have you been getting enough sales from recent work (2013) to encourage you to submit there before you've uploaded to all of your other outlets?
Should be working on Valentine's/Easter now, if we're doing seasonal work. A bit late now for the main Christmas/New Year buying season.

Yeah, but you'll get into trouble on here for laughing when you're not happy.  ::)

You'd think so, but one of my newest seasonal files is my best seller of all time there, by a very wide margin. Just uploaded a couple of weeks ago. Same with a different file (but similar subject matter) I uploaded a few weeks ago at Shutterstock.

Now the main page newbielink:http://www.istockphoto.com [nonactive] is down too. It says "Looks like we've made a mistake. Try again in a few minutes."

I'm 'in' but it's running like treacle in the areas I'm trying to access. No idea how search/sales is working, though I've had a dl in the past hour.

Search seems to be working very quickly, and I was able to click directly through from a thum to the file without encountering the annoying loupe, so that's a Good Thing.
