Hello All;

I have been submitting batches of images to all the agencies; I was exclusive with DT for a year so I am familiar with procedures.  My acceptance rates are around 85-90% at all the agencies except IS; it is sitting at 50%.  Granted, they have only reviewed 18 images, accepted 9 and the other agencies have reviewed hundreds.

Is this normal for IS?  I did not send in selects to IS, just the normal submissions that were also sent to others.  I understand all agencies have different standards; just trying to get a feel for the IS standards.

IS standards tend to be somewhat contrary to the others. I often found IS would take the images the others would reject and vice versa. They tend to prefer less processing (although the ones with lots of processing that get through often sell well).  All the sites tend to vary by the reviewer - one batch gets more rejects for one reason, a later batch of images from the same shoot gets all accepted while another might get lots of rejects for a completely different reason.

In any case that is what my experience was, your mileage may vary.

I've only ever submitted to iStock and I only started 2 years ago.  I started with a 30% acceptance rate and the typical anger/confusion/frustration that you see in the Critique Forum from new people who don't understand why their shots are being rejected, and think the inspectors are smoking crack.  I'm at about 80% now.  I do get the odd eye-roll rejection still, but I think that if you honestly try to look at your images objectively then most of the rejections do make sense.  Subject also makes a huge difference.  My acceptance rate is much lower on nature/landscape type images than on pictures of people, and the former doesn't sell much for me anyway.
