I have Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015 which I have been using for some time to send .Mov files (H264) to various sites. I am not sure exactly how to render files for istock as the FAQ seems confusing and as a novice to the world of footage it's a complex process. Can I just send the .Mov files or is there some other special rendering format I have to do ? If so, could anyone who uses the same magix software advise on settings ?

IStock accepts .MOV files, encoded with PhotoJPEG codec (set at 95% max). I don't know anything about Magix software, though.

Then again, why would you send your files to iStock? They have lowered video prices and royalties, so it's hardly worth the effort. My advice: don't support sites that pay you peanuts for video.

I am wondering if you can render with PhotoShop CS6?
It gives the option of Format:QuickTime, but I don't see a Codec option setting at all and nowhere do I see any options in the render options for "PhotoJPEG"

Where do you see those prices of $4-$9/HD on iStock?
I thought HD video clips sell for 18 credits on iStock in the Signature collection, which is roughly $170?
And in the Essentials collection they sell for 6 credits, which is roughly $60?

And in the Essentials collection they sell for 6 credits, which is roughly $60?
This is how much the contributor gets and this is why I stopped short selling myself.
Examples: $7.42, $6.48, $7.20, $9.00, $7.80, $5.88, $4.38 (!!!), $8.28, $9.90, $8.10, $5.38 ....
All of them HD.

If you are exclusive though then the payout would be at least $50 I think on a video sale.

To help sort out the misinformation this forum is famous for I will attempt to steer you towards the truth...
Plain and simple if you are non-exclusive for video on IS, it is the worst deal in town and your posted rates reflect this.
Plain and simple if you are exclusive for video on IS, it is a very appealing deal. The average download royalty hovers around $40-$45 range from IS alone, and the videos are mirrored onto GI of which the average royalty rate seems to be $85- $125 per download. Sales are consistent on both sites.

Correct, this is the truth: if you don't want to be exclusive, stay away from IS since their non-exclusive offer is an insult.
And Herg, who asked the question, is non-exclusive.

SS normally pays me $20.97 - $23.70 (up to $89.70) for HD
FT pays ~$25 for my non-exclusive rank
and P5 as much as you want.

SS also has extended licenses for video,around 100 dollars, once I got one for 130 dollars. Doesn´t happen every day, but if it does it makes a big difference.
But on average SS is around 23 dollars, pond5 around 25 (averaged over all my prices), fotolia around 20...if you get a sale.
istock 7 dollars :(

also IS demands that you convert your native H.264 codec to PhotoJPEG which adds size and degrades image quality.
go figure. :o
