2.0.8    Feb 16, 2014

Some people don't use this. I didn't use it until last year. Now I see where it makes things easier. I can edit already active images and data and click UPDATE and it's done. I can track ULs and DLs in the software, without clicking all over heck. (aka IS)

I use it for uploading now because I can attach releases from my collection.

What it didn't do very well, was mixed ULs. In other words if you uploaded online and then got the data into DM to edit, before it was sent for approval, or approved, sometimes strange things would happen. You couldn't add a release after the fact.

Simple enough, do everything from deep meta. And for people who hated the older version, you can see ALL the categories and sub Cats. on one easy menu. Much easier than online. All your keywords show in one simple box, with colors for acceptable and needing edit.

So for people who tired it and hated it - like me a few years ago - you might want to try once more. F5 your whole collections and see that you can update and edit existing files, with ease and just click one button and send all that data to IS.

Right click the program, choose 'Open', confirm the question -> won't bother you again until next update.

Heck if I know what's new. But it does show stats, DLs, income, charts, statistics and other things.

I liked the Find and Replace function, which I haven't used yet, but I think I will! I like the ability to edit keywords remote and then Update the whole batch. The screens are easier to navigate than online too.

Also for anyone else installing 2.08 that's replacing an older version. Windows - the install didn't update the desktop for mine, I got an error message, until I went to programs and created a shortcut on the desktop and deleted the old one. (which is go to all programs > right click on DeepMeta > Send To Desktop, which creates a new shortcut.

Most software will just create a new or update the old link. DM doesn't do that for some reason?

Sorry but I'm in the dark ages and still run XP.

But, maybe someone can help me, I'm lost. How the heck do I populate the "Ratings & comments" with something useful? Mine is empty. I tried word searches, nothing. Maybe I should just ignore and view those online, I never did see what they were there anyway.

Or tell me, I don't care and I'm fine with that too.

iStock got rid of comments and ratings some time ago. If you are newer contributor you probably do not have any and that's why you don't see it. Also, make sure that you updated ALL data from iStock (ctrl F5).

I wonder if it best to uninstall the older version first before installing?

It's a very excellent tool - still can't be arsed to use it though as flickr probably generates better returns than IS at this stage

True, aside from this:

and this:

If someone is there, it's a good resource.  8)

Yes, I have some comments from the old days. I don't know where they are or how to find them with DM, but it was just about, looking because it's there. Not that I really care. So I'll just pretend that feature doesn't exist and move on. Thanks

Found it: I'd guess if I went to the forum on IS more than once every six months, maybe I would have noticed?

"Legacy Features
We are also removing a number of legacy features that have been either discontinued or offered elsewhere offsite:

    Ratings and Comment
Logos (Originally Announced April 23, 2012)
Onsite Contributor FAQs (New FAQs are available here)"

October 2013

Also BTW here's the FAQ link for now.  http://istockfaq.gettyimages.com/

While I'm at it, editing. In case someone missed it.

"Member Profile Changes
In a continued effort to accommodate some larger code changes on the site we have found it necessary to make some alterations to the Member Profile pages. We are planning to remove the following features as soon as possible:

    Member Testimonials
    User Blog
    About Me"

I've seen some of this scattered in various messages, including the notice that there's a five minute delay on new uploads appearing in "My Uploads"

Myself, when I send something with DeepMeta it's done and completed, keywords and categories are included, releases attached... so I don't need to go look at My Uploads for anything.

I sure hope the new version pulls in all the keywords in the file.  The old version does not, and I have to go in an paste in the keywords from a word document.  Very much unproductive.

I'll need to start watching for that. I use BreezeBrowser Pro for keywords and data, it seems to write it into a format that's read by all sites.

But if I'm losing words, or data, I'll need to watch out.
