On IS I'm  a tiny independent.  My sales collapsed months ago when independents were basically kneecapped, and I'd quit submitting even before that.  But a few weeks ago I decided to submit a new photo that was selling very well on SS,  and make it Photo+, just to see what happened.  To my surprise it is selling well on IS, but it's the only one that still sells, the rest of my portfolio remains cold dead ashes.

So sales of one photo don't seem to boost the rest of your portfolio on IS.  Is that how everyone else sees it?

As far as I know, 'twere ever thus, except for one famous time when best match search was awful because they'd promoted certain people who were dreadful spammers. That only lasted a very few days.

I'm not sure that's accurate.

To me it would make sense to give a boost to contributors who consistently have good sales performance. If they're selling a lot, or have a high ratio of downloads to views, it's probably safe to say that buyers like their work.

And when I do some searches, the usual handful of people are normally there on the first couple of pages.

There is still something odd about this.   The newer photo, making the sales, is one of my best sellers elsewhere.  But it's not the only one, I have others that continue to sell well.  But not at IS - the same images all died there months ago.  Just about the only one that sells at IS now is the new one, which I submitted months after the massacre of independents.

It's like all my older photos were tagged in their database, all at one time, so their sales effectively ended.  But the recently-submitted photo never got marked for death, so it has a chance.

The test, of course, would be to submit another 'good' photo and see if it sells too.  But, I apparently can't set  any more photos as Photo+, and without that, there's no point because only my Photo+ photos made any significant sales.

I guess there's no point to this thread.  I'll never know what's really going on, and I'm done with IS unless some things change in a major way.
