...but could someone (pretty please) explain to me what this is:

On Istock site, when you go to "Upload" and then "Total uploads" - you are taken to  a page with all your images. The stats have number of columns: Image - Edit etc. The third column is the icon of a camera. What does it actually describe ?
The entry in that column is: "5.0 (1)".

(Forgot to add: finally I got accepted at Istock  ;D )

The column under the camera is for ratings. It shows your average rating and the number of ratings it has received.

Thanks. Now I do not know if the "5" is 5 out of 5, or 5 out of 15...  ;)

Correction: I know now. Thanks again.

At first I thought it was only the customers and users clicking the rating stars but a couple of times I've had a 5 rating on a newly live image with 0 views. So the inspectors sometimes rate the image?

And it seems there is only highest rating.  I guess noone dare to rate low, and risking to get it back.

Well, I appreciate it when someone takes the time to let you know they like your work. I'm constantly watching the new uploads on IS and when I see something outstanding I rate it and sometimes write a short note. It's nice to be nice. :-*

And it doesn't cost anything. And it just might make someone feel better - both the giver and the receiver of the compliment. Both sides win. Now if we can just promote this philosophy . . .
