Excuse me while I rant. I figure it would be better do it here than on their forums.

The frequent "not stockworthy" rejections on my abstract illustrations are killing me. The only way they get accepted is if I send in a scout inspection. For the 2 files that I have bothered to do this with, the results are:

1. http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=3125782
13 downloads in 6 days.

2. http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=3208093
6 downloads in 2 days.

Similar submissions are all rejected. I can't send in any more scout requests since they limit them. I sent in a message to support but it's been a week with no response.

I have 22 images online there with 39 downloads.  Of the 39 downloads, 30 of them are from initially rejected illustrations, which is only 4 files.

I understand that these have rather limited usage, but they are my best sellers by far.  >:(

I love the income, but for fuck sake.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

You're not alone.

All my renderings were rejected too for being "not stockworthy" and of course they are my best sellers on DT. The peak of fun was one of them (http://www.dreamstime.com/digital-encounter-image3324146) being rejected for "overfiltered". At least SS would have rejected it for mistaking the skin texture with noise  ;D

I have the suspect that both IS and SS don't want to expand their collection too fast, which is a reasonable commercial choice at some moments. So they want to include just top notch stuff (and my renderings obviously aren't). All in all with my little stock experience I found out that the most consistant reviews are the ones from DT, when they decline a submission 99% they are right.

it's the same old song and dance. just buck up and deal with it. 50% of the time I'll wait 2 or 3 weeks, re-submit, and it's accepted.

have fun and don't sweat it.

Why try to force yourself through?  Maybe you and iStock are not a good pair.  Maybe try finding an agency that accepts your work easily.

I already submit to Shutterstock, bigstock, dreamstime, stockxpert, fotolia, crestock, canstock, luckyoliver, featurepics, and snapvillage. Istock has a huge customer base that can't just be overlooked. I put it off signing up to Istock for about 10 months.

Don't give up! Your abstract illustrations are excellent and hopefully IS will eventually see the light.

Don't listen to Sean, he's blowing smoke... those illustrations are great. Like someone else said, just resubmit in a few weeks when nobody  is watching and they'll probably be accepted. Some inspector was having a bad day an probably liked your work too much and thought it was competition for his own work...

Don't let it get to you too much - almost everyone is frustrated in one way or another by IS. The best course of action is to get rid the stress caused by IS and move on.

Be glad you don't do this full time, and that you aren't exclusive to IS!

I'm not "blowing smoke".  Each agency has a "kind" of image they like to accept.  If you and iStock aren't a match, why force it?  I submitted a some to PhotoShelter, and they denied 90% of them.  Ok, I know what they want, I'm not going to submit stuff they don't want and argue about it.  Simple logic...

BTW, I thought the images were fine, but if overall, you're having problems...

Hmmm, aren't you exclusive with IS?
