I'm an independent contributor. Could someone please explain the benefits of assigning images to "Photo +"? I've tried scouring the iStock website without joy. I assume there is a rise in price for the file and therefor higher royalty? Or maybe a higher rank in the search...?

Definitely higher royalty. Too difficult to determine if it affects sort position. You've only got an allowance of 15% of your port so the most logical thing is to promote your top-selling 15% files. They will most likely already have, by default, the most favourable sort positions.

+1 on all of the above. The higher royalty is very nice, and for indies, the prices are still lower than a regular exclusive file, so there is really no buyer resistance to the P+ prices.
I have used up nearly my maximum allotment for P+. I do leave a few slots open in case a new file takes off.

Thank you Gostwyck and Lisafx.
Does "Photo +" have any bearing on which images move over to PP? Does "Photo +" affect prices of images that move over to Thinkstock, for example...?

No, P+ doesn't affect PP one way or the other. Those images still go to PP and cost the same as the others.

How do you go about assigning pictures to photo plus. I can't find it on the site :-\?
Thanks

view your portfolio and there is a photo+ tab. Click on it.

oops, I had no idea about this feature at iS.
have assigned a dozen files but will leave a dozen free spots in the hope that my summer shooting doubles my port.
cheers.

You may be throwing money away = I'd suggest sorting by DLs per month and putting the top 15% in. They can be changed around after 6 months and you will also get more slots as your port grows. Top 15% sellers probably account for 85% of DLs so it makes a big difference.

hard to tell with iS though, as the top sellers there are different to SS and DT. as I'm only new (1 year now) I see improvement in my work and 6 months is a long time, esp as I expect I'll keep improving each month.
is there anywhere that actually tells you how much more the comm is? it seems very vague (and certainly not promoted)

Thanks for the help job done sitting waiting for those extra $$$$$ to roll in, maybe!

Precisely! I took my top 12 selling images on IS and made them Photo + it hasn't changed the number of licenses and now I make more for those. That was easy?
