Title: Question About Extended License On IS
Post by: traveler1116 on November 06, 2010, 16:46
Ok I have a file with 0 downloads but with an extended license for 125 credits, is it possible to buy an image for extended license without purchasing the image?  When I click on the image to buy it as an EL the total credits I would have to pay changes depending on what size I want (125 plus between 2 and 15) but it looks as though I wasn't paid for any of those credits.  Can someone explain how this works to me?

Read the explanation of this situation here (http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=203321&page=1) - I had it happen to me earlier in the year, contacted support and then posted a suggestion based on the information they gave me.

This relates to the more general request for sales data that has come up recently, read about that here (http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=270162&page=1).

So it's impossible to know how many RCs we have and check if IS is crediting us the correct amount and that we have gotten paid correctly?

Right.  You have no way of knowing what size was licensed because ELs don't report that.

Sorry for my uneducated question:

How much $$$ am I supposed to get for a 125 credits Unlimited Reproduction / Print Runs?

I've been researching my eyes bloody to figure out my EL commission rate as a non-excl.

I would greatly appreciate a response so I could contact support and ask for more $$$ if that's the case.

If PAYG, in your case, 20% of 125 x cost of the credit.
Cost of credit could be anything from 70c up to whatever (exchange rates make it difficult to say exactly).
Subscription ELs will be different.

(125 credits) x  (amount paid per credit by the buyer) x (your rate .20 for nonexclusives) = $

(125 credits) x  (amount paid per credit by the buyer) x (your rate .20 for nonexclusives) = $

So according to the different credit values by iStock: http://www.istockphoto.com/rate_schedule.php (http://www.istockphoto.com/rate_schedule.php)
it would be:

125 x $0.95 to $1.52 x 0.2 = $23.75 to $38 ?

But huge buyers can get credits for 70c, so it could be 'as low as' $17.50

And with exchange rates, it could go up to $2-3 a credit.

And I thought I saw in a thread where someone reported when they did the math, the client paid $.47 per credit.

Unreal. With those kinds of discounts, no wonder things are "unsustainable".

Yes.  Exactly.  They financed those obscenely low credit prices by slashing royalties and overcharging low-volume customers.  Truly disgusting.

Yeah, it never comes out of their pocket, does it? Greedy *insult removed*.
