Title: Question: Cameras available now that take XXL size images
Post by: michealo on September 22, 2008, 08:07
I am going to Antarctica in mid November and would ideally like to have a camera that can take XXL pictures.

The only currently available SLR that can take these is the Canon 1ds Mk 111, correct?

I know that the Sony A900 & Canon 5d Mk II are set to ship at the end of November but that will be too late.

And nobody mentioned the H3DII-50 50mp camera?  :D

Isn't XXL 8000 x 5500 = 44 megapixels?

5D Mark II doesn't do that. If I'm allowed to say "only" 22mp and 5616 x 3744 pixels

Someone correct me. I looked up XXL on IS and it says 8000 x 5500?

1DS Mark III = 5616 x 3744

That's the maximum size of the image that was supplied by the photographer (well according to size probably a 3d artist :D). XXL is 16mp.
