Lack of trust is mine, what is yours?

Money.

Sales are in the dump

Getty/iStock has de facto seized our copyrights and made them Getty assets, by re-writing its agreement with contributors. Now Getty/iStock can use its assets in any way it pleases, and pay us little or nothing.
When you are doing business with someone who turns out to be acting in bad faith, who is in effect a thief, you can sue them or whatever, but your first step should be to stop doing business with them. We all have that option. If we don't take it, we are hurting everyone who creates images for microstock.

Getty refuses to let contributors have control of where and how their content is licensed. No opt outs and not even notification on the various deals they're making.
I've learned to live with a massive pile of crap from iStock over the years in return for reasonable returns for my work, but Getty's recent behavior was just one step too far for me.

Lack of integrity on the part of Getty; No longer able to trust iStock/Getty.

I have no reason for quitting IS completely.
-
ooooo.... many reasons to NOT joining IS ;)

I removed all my best images because I think they did an appalling deal with Google, failed to communicate with us yet again and have told us that there's more of this to come. If we tolerate this, it's not going to get any better in the future. I can't wait for us to have a good way to sell direct, as I think that's the only way we will see a reversal of the commission cuts and disrespect for contributors.

Agree with MichaelJay, quitting completely is bad business for yourself.

I am not quitting, but at this point I am not planning to give them any new content. My reason is this: We're in 2013, era of internet, crowd-sourcing, new innovative technologies in data searching and presenting and so on, and Getty still operates on principles of inflexible corporation from 1980s or early 90s. Times are changing and they are not adapting. If they keep going on like this - and at this point I don't see any indications otherwise - they will go down in flames and will get bought by Shutterstock ... and who knows how many more stupid mistakes they'll make along the way. So, unless I see signs of modern and inspired and educated leadership, I'll concentrate my efforts elsewhere.

Money... been a disaster since September.
