Is anyone else getting an unusual number of "Refund for a Purchase of Your File" messages from istockphoto?

They changed their RC schedule a bit, so they need to get the money elsewhere now  ::)

as long as there is no transparency and no regulations, and the number one goal of istock is profits, why wouldn't they write a piece of code that randomly generates a refund mail every 1000 sales...

I read yesterday in one of the FB groups that there was some fraud that hit yesterday, but I've only heard one report of refunds from it.  To the best of my knowledge, the scam site is still working just fine, so maybe that's it.  I know they're finally getting around to doing refunds from that because the one buy I made from that for tracking was finally refunded.

OMG yes. I've been hit with 10 in the last 3 weeks. Suspiciously all images are within the same genre: glamour shots of Asian models. I don't think it takes a genius to figure out that this is the same buyer. I opened a support case and got this reply: "Please note that due to the high volume of daily transactions, we will be unable to provide additional clarification on the refund performed."

It's ridiculous that mods always say you should contact CR with these issues, but CR fob you off with that.
I hope they didn't append the regular note which suggests you ask the Forum which is such a fantastic resource.

I received one today - fortunately only for $2.60 - for a sale on October 23rd! I know it's pointless trying to pursue a reason, but how they have the brass ones to claim they have a 2 week rule...

just got another today. Same time period, same genre. I can easily picture a teenager getting the download, quickly disputing the charge, and keeping the file.

yup had a bunch yesterday too.  I seem to always get them whenever I sell my editorial classic car shots.  I called yesterday and made them talk to me.  Was told it was fraud of course.  I was not pleasant, and the lady was not overly helpful.  When I mentioned that my shots were prob all over the internet at this point her response was basically we can only do so much and said I could use tineye and started to give me a website for it.  I cut her off and explained I knew what it was and then if I found something, what were they going to do? Nothing.  Her response was ummmm well....  I explained that it was getting old everytime I had one of these shots downloaded I knew a refund was coming soon.  Her reply was "well I guess someone really likes your car photos"  Like really!  There's some great support.  I hung up the phone and went immediately to my computer and cancelled my exclusivity

Have had enough of that place, sales crapping out, and refunds every time you turn around.  I'm done

I read this stuff and I wonder why I should apply for iStock? Is it worth all the stress to make a quarters per week? If this company is so bad than how does it hold 2nd place? I would think it would be below "Allyoucanstock" ...

"If this company is so bad than how does it hold 2nd place?"

IS got to second place by being firmly in first place and then applying all its management skills.

Eeee - same here. Refund for a sale on October 26th. Fortunately only 0,15 USD. Even low commissions have some advantage. :-)

I'm bumping this thread to ask if anyone else getting an unusual amount of refunds at istock this month?

Not exactly iStock, but I was surprised to find that a file which came through as a Getty sale from December (Vetta) was refunded about 30 minutes later.
