Hi--Question about how istock search works. We can't use any keyword we want in istock and some words--like the name of a city or a road--are not offered. But I've noticed if you use those words in the title and/or description, the image will appear in a search.

Though, Getty explicitly says otherwise:  "Keywords help customers find your content. The Title and Description help customers understand the context of your work, but do not help with search. Customers use the Title and Description for accurate and relevant insight into what they are seeing." (from Getty's "Keywording Guide")

So, what is the truth?  Are search terms drawn from keywords AND the description?  or from keywords and the Title? or from all three, keywords, the description and the title?

Thanks!

They have always said that the internal search only uses keywords (and that was certainly the case until recently) but Google/other external searches use titles and descriptions.

If you have found that internal searches find words only used in the title and/or description, than that is the new truth, QED.
However - do you actually have them in keywords, even though they're not in the CV and nor do they show up on the file's homepage? These sometimes show up in search.

Hmmm....maybe. I did add them in my own meta-data and they show up with dotted lines around them in IS. I never deleted them, so maybe they are being used in search. Or maybe the search really is drawing from the title and/or description.
