Title: Signature+ No More... Disincentivises Further Uploads
Post by: The Mighty Jungle on October 09, 2013, 13:22
Now that we can't specify Signature+, any new photos will likely be sold at a much lower price... why would we want to upload new photos of similar content, when the old Signature+ ones will always bring in more dinero?

They have disincentivised us to upload more.... am I understanding this wrong.... if so, please explain it to me like I'm a 1st grader.... tnx.

This issue bothers me too. Especially my newer ones are better. I hope Getty will address it.

I don't think Getty liked having their library filled with content they didn't control, so they put a stop to that scheme. I wouldn't expect to see it return any time soon.

Ironically, when you look at Getty now it's filling with endless amounts of Flickr junk.

Putting stuff into the E+ collection at Getty was the last remaining positive and financially rewarding option left to Exclusives and now that's gone too.

Getty blocked most of their photographers from submitting to anything but Photographers Choice years ago and have been adding an endless supply of Flickr cr*p daily for the last few years.  How is that a good business plan?  Probably because they pay the Flickr photographers less.

Well, I'm embarrassed about some of the old scans that their algorithm threw up to make plus from my port. But a lot of files I made E+ ages ago haven't made it over yet.

I think PC pays the same as Flickr doesn't it?  20% for RF.

Yes, RF that's true.  I was thinking more of RM which pays 40% in home territory and 30% rest of world as opposed to the 30% flat rate that I believe Flickr photographers get.

But before doing so, they promoted a bunch of my crap to S+ which presumably will someday make it over to GI (so far only a dozen or so have). In fact, they added more S+ files than I had E+, and about 90% of them should not have been made into S+, IMO.

If the reason they did it is as you suggest (which is very possible), I bet they'll never get the GI connector working again.

I haven't had any files accepted as S+ yet but I did get more Vetta's than I would expect.  Have you had more Vetta's accepted recently?

No.

I think the fact that new files disappear without trace on acceptance is disincentive enough.

Sales dead, no more content going to Getty = No more exclusive upload
