Is it just me, or is the istockphoto website so slow it's unusable.

It's always really slow.  I'm amazed that they still have customers as it is so frustrating.

True. I have wondered why people don't comment on this more often.

I had not been on IS (except to request payments) for months. Trying to do anything on the site is very frustrating, like walking in knee-deep molasses.

The site in general is pretty slow but the worst page to access is when I hit the "Upload" button on the left.

It may take literally 20 seconds for that page to finally load while other pages show up faster.

No idea how all these buyers put up with that...?

I tried a one-word search this morning (okra, relating to a post on another thread here), being already in the site.
As it was uploading, I looked through all my Flickr contacts' 'recent uploads', opened another tab, typed 'okra' into SS, scrolled through the first two pages of SS search results, THEN the iStock wheel stopped spinning.

(To be fair, a later search was in perfectly normal/acceptable time, but still, who's going to wait around if they happen to search during a slow time?)

I wonder if the slow down has anything to do with PP processing/reporting?

I just submitted 2 batches (3 images each) to SS (via browser upload) while waiting IS upload page to load... It's almost ridiculous how terrible their site has become.

Come on Jens.  They're way beyond the dinosaur stage by now.  Try sinking in the Silurian.

Honestly, I don't mind if slow to upload... I'm willing to wait.

What I care about is our customers.... obviously, it is taking them forever to do an istock search.... I suspect they are just giving up and going elsewhere. Sheeeeeesh......

Some have already posted that they are going elsewhere until the zoom gets fixed. I can't see why this wasn't all tested to destruction beforehand and why they can't restore it now. Lobo was ADAMANT that the feature was not broken, so ...?

Would you mind posting a link, Liz?

Ah.  Thank you!  :)

I would never have found that buried on page 18 of that marathon thread.

Even getting logged in using Chrome is a slog for me. I have to wait about a minute (yes literally).
If I switch to Explorer it goes much quicker, but you'd think a site as big as IStock would be usable across all major browsers!
They have needed a new tech team over there for years, but I guess that's what happens when you share too many massages and the like, reluctance to sack the incompetent members of the team  ::)

There have been at least three that I've noticed, probably on that thread.

Honestly, I would think that a slow website impacts sales so dramatically that this would be considered URGENT... and that they would be working on the problem 24-hrs/day until it's fixed .... isn't their main purpose to promote sales?

What's going on? I just don't get it.

Does anyone else get a Gateway Timeout message EVERY time they go through Contributor Tools to Uploads?

Uploading doesn't time out for me, though it takes at least a couple of minutes (literally) to open the upload page. However, as each upload can take 20 to 40 minutes to complete I have started uploading 12MP files instead of 20MP in order to speed things up. The time I'm losing uploading large files in not compensated for at all by additional earnings from having that size available given the low sales volume and infrequency of maximum size dls.

Don't you use deepmeta?  You just upload them from there and forget about them.  I rarely actually go to the site, just for payouts and to have a look at the pp sales.

Deepmeta stopped working for me for some reason, and efforts to redownload it didn't solve things so I've been uploading individually.
