I was wondering what the relationship between Getty and Flickr was. Or is there any relationship? I met someone at a workshop who said that his friend posted on Flickr and then some of his photos were put somewhere in Getty, but he didn't know where.

yes it has started again. This time one can submit images for getty/flickr curators after every 2 months.
ps- i really hate flickr. People come to just steal images there. Though they can steal from other sites too but dont know why they steal my flickr/getty images most. Watermark, disabled right click save or any other protection can not save images from thieves. If I upload images for just 1 day and then next day i find them in everywhere in the internet whether personal or commercial websites, blogs etc. Over to all, getty/flickr has worst contributor support. Hardly reply any mail. I personally stopped uploading images there.

Are you aware of this "service"? You can search flickr photos by color. "We extracted the colors from 10 million Creative Commons images on Flickr. Search this collection by color." I can't believe there are that many Flickr members who would just give their images away. You can simply search and download in many sizes.

Strange thing for TinEye to get into.
Note that they say, "This demo uses the Flickr API but is not endorsed or certified by Flickr."

Have to say that on a few experiments that  that multi-colour engine works very well.
At least when you click on a thumbnail you get taken to the Flickr page where, if the author has reserved all rights or has placed CC restrictions, they are obvious. It's not like Google, where a person could say they couldn't find the author, which could easily be true, e.g. for a long time Alamy pics didn't show at all (haven't tried recently) and many iStock pics don't show, but doesn't mean the images are there for the taking). If they use this service and steal an image, they have no possible leg to stand on.
