I find it very interesting! Do you have an easy way to compile those stats or just counting them yourself?

Also, what period is covered?

It was quite fast because I have all my sales on a excel spreadsheet, the period is since the start at IS

I guess that I would have to count them one by one. That's too much work for me!

just to let you know I have created this and also to other agencies, once I am seeing if it is worth getting a new camera with more megapixels :)

havenīt decided yet because just IS and FT would make a difference! IS 20%, FT 15%..

I think microstock is one of the areas where extra megapixels are definitely important. I'd say 12MP is the minimum you should be going for at the moment. If you've got significant sales on IS, then larger still is preferable.

What you can't calculate is whether you're missing out on sales when buyers are specifically looking for bigger files.

You mean I've been downsizing everything because the buyers are paying such low prices and I should be selling full size for 50 cents?  ???

You are probably right, but do buyers really look at the size of the image or are we just getting a better price when they do download an XXL on IS? With the 38% being XS, I wonder how much a 12MP camera justifies itself? Personal view, but if someone has a good DSLR and wants to spend money to make better images, I'd say go for the prime lens that will still be in their bag years from now and still be a valuable tool.

I agree, I have a D300 at 12.3mpx and I have been asked more and more this last year for higher resolution of my images. Even on those collage I am doing who are approximatively 18mpx... not enough. Add that I can't crop any images that I take, downsize or rotate a bad camera angle. I need badly a 5D markII
