Getty is apparently hiring an e-commerce manager in Calgary where

"...you will help to create an optimized E-Commerce website that is continually maximizing revenue and margin and driving improvement in conversion"

Could create mean a new web site? Or does this really translate to fix up the limping old iStock code by making a replacement from scratch? And interesting that the position is located in Calgary, not Seattle

I saw this Getty tweet that led me to the above posting.

No, I can't imagine so. Don't forget that RR is Senior VP for E-Commerce for GI. Looks to me that she wants to get someone to whom she can delegate a good chunk of her existing responsibilities at Istock to. Then she'll be able to concentrate on 'improving communication' with us! Lucky old us.

Perhaps the new e-commerce manager will make some of their initiatives actually work.

I came upon an announcement for a new partnership with PrintChomp where iStock photos can be included in print projects.

The Print Design Center has a box for searching iStock, but it is returning apparently random useless results, even for simple one word searches like picnic - one image of some bowls of food on a table ; dog - which does include one dog picture along with an abandoned warehouse, a statue outside a museum (with one small dog in it); beach - most include some water except for the shot of a house. New York produces a still life of flowers, a cartoon of a half clothed man.

Honestly if you thought that was all iStock had to offer, you'd write them off as useless. I assume the rubbish results are as a result of current Best Match woes?
I initially wondered why this wasn't announced by iStock anywhere...

'maximising margin', which being translated means 'find even more ways to screw the contributors'.
