Title: Istock´s image needs
Post by: Verena on May 29, 2007, 08:38
Hi everybody!

In their training maunal Istock says that they don´t need anymore images of dogs/ cats, flowers, flags, sunsets & clouds and so on. Does that mean that they always reject every image that contains one of those things? Or how strict are they with this? Is it still worth a try?

Verena

PS: I really enjoy this forum! I´m quite passive here, I´m mostly reading and not writing that much, but I think it´s a very nice atmosphere here! Thanks for all your great advices and information, I´ve already learned a lot thanks to you all!  :)

They will accept those things, but only if the shot is really special.

I took a photo of a flower and tried uploading it on all of the sites.  Surprisingly, it was accepted on all of the sites, but has only had a few sales.

Here is the image if you are interested:

I've had some of those type images accepted so I try anyway if I think they are exceptional.  Good luck!

Yeah, i think the flower images must be quite good to sell regulary, I just started to make a page on my website for microstock beginners to check out the possibilities how images will sell. My first and still only example is a flower.

That´s a really interesting example! Interesting to see that none of the agencies can keep up with Shutterstock! But I wonder if the download reasults per agency will be more even after a year or so!!?! And I also wonder if I would have as many downloads as you with the exact same picture in my portfolio?!? I think you attract a lot of your "customers" with your COOL penguin pictures!  ;) By the way, please tell us more about your trip to Antarctica!! Seems quite unusual...! How do you organize such a trip?
I´ll definitely check out those download results of the flower picture later on to see how it´s developing!

Schöne Grüße nach Deutschland!  :)

Same here, have had some of mine accepted...  as said, they must be exceptional images, but they take them.  8)-tom

modified next day: that didn't sound right. sorry.   I suppose my particular images were good enough to squeek by.   or, the trainee reviewer was on that day. ... yeah, that's it..   trainee reviewer...   LOL
