For those of you that contact Scout to have a rejected file re-inspected, how long have you waited for a response?

And would you do it again?

I have a file that was rejected for "we did not find this file suitable as stock".  I believe that the IS inspectors made a big mistake on this one.  This image has done extremely well at other stock sites and I was wondering if it is worth the effort (and wait) of using Scout.

I have an open ticket from march 12, previous tickets took up to four weeks to process.
It really is not a lot of effort though, just create a ticket and forget.
If accepted, the image will do not so good in the "newest" sort i guess.

Four weeks?  That's good, I had one took four months.

Recently though scout has been quicker - four weeks is about what my last request took I think.

But as said, it's not any effort, so you should put it in.  What have you got to lose?

Thanks.  I forgot about that.  It will probably also not do as good in the Best Match (since there haven't been any sales in the weeks or months that you are waiting on Scout).

Ive had around 90% accepted after re-inspection.  It feels like they batch-reject sometimes without looking.  Its definitly worth it.

I only used Scout once -- and I have no idea how long it took.  After waiting almost 3 months, I gave up and wrote it off as a lost cause. A few days later, I noticed I got a sale on the picture!  I have no idea how long it's been active.  I never got an email and when I look at the picture info it doesn't tell me.

On the good side, though, apparently Scout could find the "artifacting" either  :D

It always they long, sometimes a couple of months.

As people say that the age of an image affects its positioning in a search result, it's been said here that is better to resubmit and hope for another inspector to pick it.  Otherwise the image is considered "old" by the search tool and, with no/little views and sales, it is sent to the back of a search.

I think this story is older than many of the search engine changes, so I don't know if it is still valid.

often a couple of months, I gave up using it and just resubmit (although I have one at the moment that I may now try scout).  The problem is that image goes online from your upload date, so it is a couple of months old with no views / sales and does poorly in best match search.  Also Istock (esp scout) dont care if an image does well elsewhere and if you state this as a reason IMO you are less likely to get it through scout.

I've waited for 6 months for a decision before. I think legal issues take a lot longer than technical ones to make a decision on which is understandable.

From past experience though, images overturned scout don't come in as old images, they have the same best match positioning as anything that's passed normal inspection at the same time!

Well, I wouldn't strongly recommend that. Resubmitting an image once rejected by an inspector... well, you might get lucky once or twice but you can be certain that this circumvention of the official rules won't be tolerated if someone finds out.

Sending your image to Scout is the only choice if you want to have the inspection decision reviewed.

The easiest thing is to read the reviewer's remarks carefully, and if you believe in the shot and you're allowed to resubmit, just process it all over and resubmit by the resubmit button. I would never reupload an image that has been rejected without addressing the issues. Sometimes those issues are very easy to correct, like an off-keyword or a brand name that wasn't cloned out. If the reviewer believes in the image, he will even attach a screenshot of the problematic area, something that other sites never do.

THis is very good advice.  I do the same and usually the fixed/resubmitted file is accepted.

I have also had good luck with Scout often reversing rejections or if they don't reverse it you at least get a more detailed explanation of the problem.  In my experience Scout seems to take around 4 to 6 weeks on average.

It definitely isn't a quick fix and I only bother if it is an image or series I believe in strongly.

It takes 4-5 weeks at least in my experience. However, I checked a couple of my images in the best match search after acceptance and their position was not bad at all. They wer on the second page out of 15 or so pages of results. Later I have sold these images 3-4 times in the last few weeks.
