I see the Spring Woo Yay thread is now closed with a grand total of 45 posts. It seems to be something of an emotional barometer showing how engaged the community is with the site. Tallies of 300 to 400 posts per quarter were quite normal in the past.

They're in the off topic forum

a search pulls up the older ones.

I'd put money on a 'Woo-Nay' thread attracting a lot more posts these days, except that it'd probably soon get locked / disappear.

speaking 'woo-yay' -- what's the deal with the PTOTW?  do they delete the previous one once a new pimp thread has started? I pretty much lost interest when it was taken over by istock admins.

Also note that the new summer "Woo-Yay" thread has a total of zero posts so far.

well you know, they have special rules for some people.  I special thread can be started when someone hits black diamond or one of the favorites has something special happen - rarely have I seen those threads be locked with a remark of "congrats, now go visit the woo-yay thread."

that has always irritated me.  if you're going to have a policy, enforce it consistently.

Jeez! pathetic really. It surprises me though that somebody like,  jtyler, lends herself to this PP stuff. She is a good photographer.

Yeah, I was surprised at that, too. Oh well, whatever.

I think you will find all the old threads in the Lighbox forum. I never go in there, so I only know because somewhere in the past Rob made mention of the old PTOW threads going there in some forum I do read.

Pardon my ignorance, but why not? What's the difference between selling on the PP and on SS or any other subscription site for that matter ?

PP is another outlet thats for sure, not the volume of SS..

the problem is that people are collecting some money there, so why not all of us? yep we are screwing stock.. this discussion will never end.. my opinion is that we all should quit all top agencies and join 50% :) (where there is no money)

Well PP members are in general sabotaging the industry, they use little point/shoots and ware flowers in their hair, they are not to be trusted, they are all on the pot and weed...........

.............. wait a minute!  are you also with PP ????????????????

They have really killed any fun those forums used to be. I notice they aren't nearly active as they used to be. And all the thread locking certainly doesn't give a great impression of the site anymore, either. There are six locked threads out of fifteen (that are not stickeys) in the Discussion forum. Off-topic forum is dead except for the race threads. Designer forum has been dead for a long time now. Logo forum is dead and beaten a few times too. And on and on...

A lot of community activity has moved to facebook. I have daily contact with istockers from all over the globe. we share shooting tips, images, ask for help with props or locations or recommend models. Plus all the chitchat and kid pictures. Why cant we have all that activity on istock??

Since last September, I do think the negative mood and all the drastic changes on istock has made members look for other outlets to share the creative spirit.

The biggest disadvantage is that you meet fewer people and watching several forums, facebook and the blogoshpere isnt so efficient. I would very much prefer to have a bustling, hustling forum full of enthusiastic people.

45 woo-yay comments is pitiful and depressing. I mean, what about all the new incoming fresh talent?? Where are they?

And I am in a different place. I would very much have preferred if they forgot the forum altogether and concentrated on important things that made both me and them money. I certainly met some nice people in my CN, but it was just a side benefit...the main benefit for most contributors was making money.

Seems like at one time they managed to have both.  Now they have neither.

For starters whats wrong with pot and weed ?
We are in the PP, but no bestsellers nor vetta go there.

I'm sure it's because of the bell chart. In the old days, you could help someone else and it wouldn't really affect you, particularly if they shot different things to you.
Nowadays, you could help someone else, and they (or a lurker who read your hint) could overtake you in the RCs. That could affect you very badly.
The shame, the shame. >:( :'(
