A lot of advertising assignments are being put on hold, and we freelancers are not getting any work. So Id guess therell be a negative impact.

A great question actually to  make jokes about.

How about curation, support and transactions times?

The entire industry, as any other industry will be globally affected.

We are nose diving into a major economic slowdown. Aside from companies who produce hand sanitizer, we are all screwed.

Maybe I am, I'm sworn to keep my secret identity secret. For myself, and I deny that Microstock will fall down. I am Ling Ling

No matter who you are or what you do, there will always be a Ling Ling who is above your level.

There will always be Microstock. Maybe artists will make nothing, and some companies will close, but there will always be Microstock as long as there are people with cameras.

Wondering how microstock sites such as Getty/istock will be affected by the coronavirus.

Can Getty get any lower or worse?  ;) Overall, I think we'll see less use, less downloads and less earnings, until this passes. Except people who are shooting empty streets, empty shelves, showing sick people, or drawing corona virus illustrations.

A lot of advertising assignments are being put on hold, and we freelancers are not getting any work. So Id guess therell be a negative impact.

That's a good example of how and why, and a good prediction.

This. Huge recession, budgets squeezed everywhere. It's going to hurt almost everyone.

it's obvious and i can see only portfolio....clearly some will still earn something, but shutter stock will lose millions like any other company, considering the sector was not in the best shape is a difficult situation, personally i hope all micro fails so maybe we rebegin from zero....but i doubt...

Cameras? Photos are a dead horse (unless you are a very talented guy),
but...what about illustrators or motion designers? CG is everywhere,
but it's not so easy, you need to learn very complex softwares, years of practise, and a bit of talent.
Technology is evolving, microstock is evolving, face it. :)

Paper magazines sell less and less. Online magazines are the future.
But maybe im wrong.  :)

Plus that even in paper for years now, one had to either draw hand or computer
and  cannot take a photo (or too high cost to replicate actual)
e.g. of a bisectioned 4 stroke engine and cycles.

dreamser...you are just considering that nothing change....video already see many subscription model with cheap price 1,5 dollar per sale, near photo but sale for video are not comparable, probably one video eery 1000 photo if not more....the same as motion graphic illustration, probably considering the crisis there will be even more competition...everybod living photo for video and motion graphic, the same pressure on price, high offer low demand....it-s a fact...in addiction while more complex motion design is not nuclear science...in easter europe there are zillions people doing this. so don-t believe a lot on your idea.

In Greece it is day three at home and already another brand new tv ad is running on the matter.

The question is, can we create something that will stand out of the crowd and get high compensated sales?

Shutterstock made 4.35 Million profit last quarter, microstock is making money. 2019, Pond5 launched partnerships with Reuters, Cover Video, and Newsflare to create the largest Editorial video collection. Depositphotos was founded by Dmitry Sergeev in November 2009 in Kiev, Ukraine. iStokc pays us 15% and you are calling microstock dead. The companies are making good money from microstock and people like you who give them pictures.
