I have 2 questions!

1. Can I use only Canon tramsitter ST-E2 (with my EOS 400D) to trigger the Speedlite 430ex speedlite flash, as slave unit?

2. Is it worth to buy of camera shoe extension cord? What would I get with that?

the question is are Speedlite flashes compatible with radio triggers? They are trigered by light pulse, not radio signal.

anyway, it must be more expensive than canon transmiter.

I bought one and it works well.  I use the pop-up flash to trigger my 430 and I have another one to trigger an old EZ flash (from the first generation of film EOS).

Of course the adjustments are trial/error but it works... Sometimes I have to diffuse the pop-up with a piece of paper but these cells are pretty sensible and fire everytime.

Perhaps this is what you are saying - but you loose the ETTL (automatic exposure) when you use it like this, but you would also loose it with the pocket wizards as well.  I guess the only way to keep the ETTL is to use the infra red.

I wish canon would come up with an ETTL radio sender
