Haha. Ok, so we can make fun of ourselves a bit. :)
That old thread just kept coming up- I thought it was time to start something fresh with an upgrade to the subject. Again we appreciate everyone's effort- it's been a hard grind, but things are definitely picking up steam. We still have lots of work to do, but we're going to continue to earn your trust day by day.
With a growing image collection we have to work extra hard for artists to see the progress. When you get Ron hogging all the 'downloads' it makes even tougher. :)

Well Bryan....I'll be the first to say I agree 100%. My sales are beginning to pick up slightly...I used to be lucky if I got a couple sales a week :-\....but lately I have been seeing sales on a daily basis. :)....I even sold my first photo from the sideshow yesterday...so that's nice. I like the sideshow idea...however until sales pick up a little more I don't see the payback exceeding the cost of the service......in a year...probably...but not yet.
As it's been said many times over...I kinda like you guys...I like your fresh approach and the attitude of the staff.....so I'll keep uploading and waiting for things to kick into high gear....

This month is a bit slow (on most sites actually), but I have been happy with LO progress over the past few months.

i have been getting betwen 9 and 11 sales each month since january, so i might have to still say the sales are modest :) in the same boat as scanstockphoto and canstock, but I do see a number of sideshow sales so that is a nice thing. Also nice to get 50% of extended licenses and sideshow sales.
I was just approached for an extended license sale at Istock. Sale price $100, my share $20 :(

We’re still trying to figure out buying habits. Some artist are getting an average of 3-5 downloads a day right now (at $2.00). This trend is turning upward for more people.
Performance will vary for each Carny. We stopped marketing to artists last year, but we continue to get large amounts of people trying to become part of the site based on word of mouth referrals. We’re in a race now to surpass the rate of image acquisition. Eventually the inflection point will make this problem irrelevant, but if you’re seeing consistent sales it means we’re actually beating the trend. Sideshow will eventually make up sales by providing higher margins.
This is the hard part for any new site to create momentum. I’m pretty sure we’ve passed a couple critical milestones, but the pressure is now on building sales. It’s our number one priority now and we’re excited about the challenge.

Oh gosh, I only managed to get my first sale a few days ago. But maybe I haven't been paying much attention to LO.

I upload to 10 sites and LO earnings are in 9th place. They are yet to reach a level I would call "modest" and the slow creep upwards is sometimes hard to detect.
I am concerned that the site is great for photographers but doesn't attract the number of downloaders required to keep us all happy. If this imbalance continues, it is hard to see how LO will attract the photographers that are on the sidelines waiting to see good returns for the time it takes to upload large portfolios. Without them, LO will not grow fast enough to attract the buyers. This is a big problem with slow growth and I don't see how LO are addressing it.
Perhaps I am wrong and the slow growth method will work but at the moment it feels like a long shot. 123rf had similar problems but seem to have sparked in to life by spending money advertising in designer magazines. That seems to be the way all the best selling sites have achieved good sales. Can LO make it without doing this soon?
