so i'll start it off :)

- Referral program (however this is apprently underway)
- Paypal payouts.

Is there no paypal???

I also think they have to reduce the payout threshold as with a new site with slow sales, $100 is a lot.  Of the new sites, I think only 123rf has a $100 limit.  Fotolia and StockXpert have $50.  SS has $75 and with a lot more sales.

There is no incentive to submit if it takes to long for a payout.  Note that we have all joined so far in the hope you will do well.  If things dont move, we wont submit and may even remove photos.

A higher royalty.  Something on the order of 40-60%.

I want a little MRF icon to appear when you've added a MRF to files that have been uploaded by ftp. At the moment it is a real pain to upload a large number of files in one go. Fotolia's system is much better I am sorry to say Brian!

well i agree that it would be nice ot have the little icon to show if there is a model release allready attached,  I do like how simple it is to upload when the iptc info is allready in the file.

having the releases kept on file would also be great.

The ability to at least cut and paste groups of keywords, rather than have to enter them one at a time.  VERY time consuming!

it would be handy to have thumbnails on the downloads page because its very hard to know wich image was downloaded just by a name. I have several dog and sky picture with the same name so i cant know wich one was downloaded.

Buyer referral program, a must.

Better commission, maybe, although for each size we're making more there than at most other sites.

Thumbnails in the downloaded images page, that's neat.  I also have the same problem of images in a series with the same title.

Adelaide

I dont like thumbnails as if you have lots of sales, the page becomes to big.  It should "click" through to the photo or maybe pop up when you hoover.

currently, if you click on the name of the file that was downloaded, it takes you to the photo for that download

Then I like the current system.  FP has implemented thumbnails and even though I only a a few sales, I have to scroll to the bottom of the page just to find out that nothing else has sold (if it was just a line entry per sale, it would fit on one page)

Expanding options like shutterstock or 123rf are good. ie. daily summary then click to see detail including thumbs.

thumbnails so you can see the image also group sales together so if you a few photos you can tell without having to go and look at each photo to see its download number.

As their portfolio grows I would hope you could arrange the photos according to date, size,DLs etc

For buyers it might be a good idea if you advertise a photo being 1920 x 2560 when they DL it actually is that size NOT 1280 x 1920 (half size) a slight bug for landscape orientation but portrait orientation seem to the correct full size.

PAYPAL + Moneybookers !! There are quite a few photographers outside of the US of A and a cheque in US dollars isn't much use with exorbtiant bank charges.

I remember one thing.  We don't have an image list there, like in the other sites, with small thumbnails and file statistics (views, sales), I like that.

I'd like to see an improved search function, one that lets me search for photogs by user name.  I'd also like speedier downloading--downloading files can be glacial on this site.

I'd like to see faster approvals. Waited forever to get my first three checked out. Now have a long and growing queue...

They have already implemented saved MRFs and an icon should appear when a MRF is attached. However, the system doesn't seem to be working properly at the moment. When it does, should be much improved.

kapcer,

Approvals there are usually fast, like 24h.  Maybe the problem is with new contributors' first batch, I believe that's what you referred to.

Well, one BIG improvement I would like to see is to give us the opportunity to convert tokens into earnings. Honestly, after I upload 1000 images (if they get accepted) I would much rather have $300 then 1000 tokens that I will never EVER be able to use.

Just went in to use some of my tokens and buy images from fellow photographers. Site kept freezing and kicking me to the login page. If I were spending real money, I would have taken it somewhere else. Olley better spend some money on hardware and/or better programming pretty quick. Most people that encounter a site that poorly behaved won't give them a second chance.

I have to agree.  It is very unstable, prone to freezing up.  That's a real downer for potential buyers.  Could it be due to Rails programming?  Anyone familiar with Rails?

Lucky Oliver appears to have suffered a catastrophic crash.  All I get is this:

"Status: 500 Internal Server Error Content-Type: text/html

Oh no!

There seems to be a bug :( Maybe try refreshing, and if that doesn't work, check back later, and we might have it fixed. Sorry!"

I think that if Bryan is listening, he should take this into serious consideration as I have thought it over:

1.  Limit the number of photographers - this is important as the more they accept photos, the better their site will be BUT if there are 40 000 photogs are 4 designers, you have a problem - which is exemplified by FT - 1,000,000+ pictures, slow/burst sales (nothing consistent).  That is the most annoying thing in the world.

2.  Don't change the uploader - its amazing.  So easy.  I wish everyone else made it that easy.

3.  Get marketing.

My main point is the photographers.  No one wins if there are too many people crowding it out.  It states that LO is a community, so the idea would be to look out of the photographers and the designers together in a sustainable fashion - accepting everyone isn't sustainable, and it will definitely deter me from uploading more.

On that note I should mention that I'm not uploading to Fotolia as much for that reason.  Other than that, it provides for less that 6% of my total overall earnings from stock.

That is my take.

Hopefully it is worth reading.
