The upload process is so easy that it reminds me of the 'One-Click' Amazon feature.  Once the pictures are ready for the other main sites, it's no time-consuming at all to add them via FTP to the LO site too.  So, what to lose?  I'll continue uploading there, without expecting much sales at this point.

The $50 payout minimum would be a nice way to show contributors that their money isn't used for something else...  but personally with only 10 downloads up till now I'll have to wait a while anyway.

Let's hope for the best   :)

yeah i agree that it is very easy to upload to LO - the have designed that very well.  If it wasn't that easy, i would not be uploading there.

I don't think I agree with you though on not wanting them 'spending' our $50.  I would be happy if they spent it on some advertising or something so that i would get the second $50 a little quicker.  I don't have a problem with the $100 payout but then again I managed to get one a little while ago thanks to some extended licenses

I do not have a problem with the 100$ payout too.
I think it might help LO to get on their feet. I agree with Leaf, it might help us in the end to get our money quicker. We want LO to be successfull, don't we? Otherwise why did we upload photos there?
From the beginning it was our risk to invest our work to upload. Didn't we knew the payout limit? If LO wont be successful, we lost a little work, if it will be successful we will win, because we were on this site long before the many others photographers who will go there, when they see it is successfull.
I am personally not a fan how they design the site, yet it is creative and nice and it shows, they have ideas. But if I want images I would go to DT or IS, not only because of quantity and quality of images.  However that might be my personal taste and I wish them success and I like their friendliness and how they motivate photographers with their comments to the uploaded pics (great work there!)
Just a thought, no offense to the other opinions..

I am quite new to micro stock. Started in January. LO was one of the first I joined. The one thing that makes the 50 or 100 $ payout not very important to me is the reviewers. Being a newbie their clear rejection reasons and suggestions for fixes are worth more to me than the few $ I might earn in the short term. They are the only site I belong to whose rejections and comments make much sense to me. This is reason enough for me to continue to support them for some time to come.
Not much is happening there for me yet. No sales and not a lot of views.
But it seems to me from looking at other sites and reading this forum that not much can be expected for some time yet. Many of the other sites that are older and have more photos don't seem to be doing much better. The ones that are doing better seem to all be quite a bit older and have a lot more photos. I can only trust that Bryan has a workable plan and hope for the best. In the meantime I am learning a lot and enjoying it.
I realize that for those of you who do pro quality work none of this matters but I do not hesitate to recommend LO to all the newbies.

Stockxpert is one of the newer sites and they have lots of sales.  I think the time has come for LO to show us what they can do to attract buyers.  There are other new sites starting up and the competition is going to be intense.

It takes time to upload to all these sites and those with low sales are going to struggle.  I hope LO make it but I think they are going to have to push harder for new customers now, while they have the opportunity.

I'm starting to think that if you are not a "Forum" type person, who has "friends" in the "community", then Lucky Oliver is not going to work for you.

aka.tom said about having 200+ photo's with 12,400 views, man that was depressing. I have 300+ photos with 2,400 views and 13 sales...........so why are my views so low..............is it because I do not comment over at L.O ?

how long have you been on the site?  that could have something to do with it.

who cares about views.  I only care about sales.

It might not be this but at the start, Views were increasing very quickly.  I think it was counting the google bots etc as they indexed which isn't a true "view".

I am not also convinced that comments will increase exposure.  it has even been noted that on google images, it is referencing info from the "similar images", not the actual images so all comments are doing currently is advertising anothers persons photo.

I will continue to wait for sales to increase.  Deceasing the payout will not solve the problem of low sales.  Where a lower payment is helpful is where  it changes a quarterly payout into a monthly payout (FT), or an annual payout into a quarterly (BS).

August 2006.............I have not commented much because I don't like how that comes up in searches for my name, it's as if those comments  could come back to haunt you. Also dolgachov got mad at some comments made to his photo, so that also warned me off.

I know lots of people here like the site, some with an iStock type passion?? but sales are low, I don't see advertising and this thread with a $50 payout request, was  a great opportunity for L.O. to show some love back to the contributors, showing this is a two way street.

Amen to that brother!  I only mention it in contrast of views vs. sales.  One would think a few more pix would have been sold?  Hey it's almost identical to my 'folio on SS, where views are much less and sales lightyears from 13.   I just don't understand how that is.
Yes,  views mean squat.  I still have a 'folio on USPS (but not for long).  I know I've got well over 20,000, coming up on 30K views there...... and only 5 sales, one of which I purchased just to see if the credit came into my account.  Yeah, you can't put views in the bank or pay new camera bills with them.
None-the-less, I'll be sticking with LO for a while.  I'm still hoping for the best over there.    8) -tom
