Anyone tried the new IE.  From my very breif reading about the two, IE has caught up wtih Firefox.

i was gong to install IE but it gave a warning to ensure all important documents are backed up!  Didn't give me confidence.  Mght wait a couple of days (am getting a new external drive).

I've been using IE7 for several days (since its release). I find it more stable and love the tabs. I like Firefox but a lot of websites don't work well with Firefox so I mostly use IE. I'm glad MS is getting more competition because it killed all browser improvements once it won the war with netscape. Firefox is finally putting some heat under MS. Of course the new IE7 is only a catch up to Firefox 1.5, it hardly offers anything new or exciting.

ok... things are back to normal. :)  i have both browsers updated and working.  Not sure what went wrong with firefox the first go 'round but i uninstalled it and re-installed it, and it works great now, and has all my favorites and things looking like normals.  Not sure what i like better... perhaps firefox.  IE seems too dumbed down.. it is impossible to find anything.  I am afraid that is what windows vista is going to be like :S

Yes at first glance once again MS sided with the dumbed down interface.  It took me a moment to go through the options to get the menu back on there and to re-adjust the interface to my liking.  The layout is fine once you get use to it except for the icons.  The force the icons to the right side and won't let you move them.  It drives me nuts because I want them on the left side because it is quicker to get to them.  That is my only complaint so far.  A lot of people have both and use Firefox unless they run into problems and then switch to IE for that particular site.

yeah that is what i have been doing... switching to IE when i run into problems.

I'm not anti microsoft though, so if there was a good reason to switch i would.  right now i am just as comfortable on firefox so will probably stick with it.

plus it's good to give MS a little competition :)

Competition is awesome.  IE was dead until other browsers started grabbing some market/attention.  That whole thing always seemed weird to me.  You have all this early inovation in browsers and web technology.  Then MS wins the battle with Netscape, and then decides to stop improving their browser.  Meanwhile web use, technology, and inovation continued to evolve and grow in leaps and bounds, leaving the old relic, IE, sticking out like a sore thumb.  I'll never understand that decision/strategy.  There was definitely not a lot of forward thinking there.
