Ha! Ha! :P

Good one. But if it were true, would anyone really notice a difference if 123 just got shut down? Most of us took a big revenue hit when StockXpert was acquired and killed. But 123? A better prank would have been: "Getty in talks to acquire Shutterstock," but maybe that would seem too outlandish and spotted as an April Fool's joke right away.
-
I don't know what you guys are talking about! it's true, I wonder who's next?
-
OK, I'll bite... but the link to MicrostockDiaries.com... is there supposed to be a mention of it there? Is Lee in on the gag too? If he had something up he must have already taken it down.

Ya, it was there on the site?? Maybe he is revising the article? hmmm?
-
No it was never there. Just another deceptive way to get people to click referral links or check out blogs. It's an April Fool's Day joke. Ha ha.
But then again it wouldn't surprise me either. Getty has so much money to burn they can just buy up the competition.
-
April Fool's joke or not, I wouldn't shed too many tears over losing 123RF. I earned just shy of $90 there last month, and that was a BME. Hardly worth the effort anymore.

Fine!! spoil my fun!! :)
Don't drag Lee through the mud, he's not aware of this.

Didn't getty acquire crestock LAST April 1st? They have a history of this. lol

No, it was crestock acquiring istock last year or the year before. It was on crestock's front page for a while, and istock threatened to sue them.

No, it was Crestock aquiring Corbis in 08. You're playing with fire if you mess with Bill lol.

Relieved it's just an april fools joke.
@Powerdroid, no, 123 would not be a big loss, but the big picture of Getty working its way closer to monopoly is not a happy one....

ha!ha! good one cdw,
agree too PD,
but a much better April FOol's day prank would be that Getty and Corbis are really sleeping together.
That would be a hard one to blow off (no pun intended) ...

WOOO HOOO !!! Getty Conspiracy Day !!!!! Ok Here Goes.
Getty (a tradtional non-micro mega monster) decides to jump into micro ... why?? Take over iStock (a micro leader) to fund the invasion .. Phase 2 .. Take over StockXpert (another micro leader) and shut them down while attempting to move the contributors to a super low paying ThinkStock (AKA Ghetto Getty .. yes I just coined the name but feel free to use it anytime you like) .. Phase 3 .. Encourage lowering the value of microstock by not only coming up with Thinkstock but going so far as to encourage iStock buyers to go buy cheap shots at Thinkstock instead for way less money (DO WHAT ?!?!!?!!) ..
So where is this master plan leading? .. Phase 4 .. Let's buyout FT and DT for starters (we all know Getty can afford to offer an insane amount at the drop of a hat that couldn't be refused). .. Phase 5 .. Next we knock SS out of the ring and sweep up the middle tiers.
Ok so at this point it's pretty much over. Getty is the Monopoly man. Then we wake up one morning and go to check our sales and what do we see? A Goodbye page that says Sorry, we thought microstock was a stupid idea from the beginning and so we're shutting it down .. everyone can go back to giving us hundreds per download. BWAHAHAHA Suckers !!!!! You actually thought we were on your side didn't you .. Don't call us we'll call you. ;D
Hmmmmm doesn't seem like much of a conspiracy now that I think about it .. it could actually work .. maybe that is the plan .. oh crap I better go book a couple weddings so if it happens I won't care. ;D

Yeah, same here. I had a WME with just 984$ at 123RF, closing in on Featurepics with just 793.05$ last month. Not worthwhile. 8)

wouldnt have been surprised if it were true.... wonder how long I would have had to wait to see those pix 'migrated' to some other backstreet sub-site Getty would pull out of their ...... ear. 8)=tom
meaning: still waiting to see my StockXpert & IS stuff show up on Stinkstock. meanwhile, losing all those sales I used to have on StockXpert.

Which will be a raise after reading some of the recent posts about shared sales on some minor sites. ;D

This post might just be an insight into the future!
My speculation is that it will be Shutterstock who ultimately takes over 123rf. They did after all update 123rf and the BigStock interfaces on the same day ... "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"

Some people just can't take a joke ::)
Why so serious?
-
God * it , stop bumping this thread to the top cause I'm starting to believe it's true lol.

so it was a joke? I thought they spent all their money buying Corby, which would explain why they can't pay reviewers and us on time :)
-
God it , stop bumping this thread to the top cause I'm starting to believe it's true lol.
LOL, you know The Secret philosophy.... Attention flows where attention goes. Somebody at Getty is going to wake up one one of these days and say "I've got a great idea!!!" And it will be all our fault :)

LOL! You are so right.
Some of the dumbest things I have seen implemented were originally suggested by some wingnut or other in the forums ;)
