Title: Business Concept
Post by: JackRabbit on April 03, 2013, 08:47
I have developed an online business model. It is unlike anything that is out there. It caters in a unique way to the Creative Class: writers, musicians, illustrators, fine artists, designers, poets, tattoo artists, photographers, game designers, film produces, brewers, etc.  I have done a patentability search and filed for a utility patent.

The back end functionality is very similar to a stock site. It would complement the stock business but provide a much broader revenue stream without competing. Rather than develop the system from scratch, I would prefer to partner with someone who has already developed the vast majority of the code. I thought I would post here in hopes that someone would provide a lead. thecan99(at symbol)gmail.com.

You've developed a business, but you want to hook up with someone who's already written and implemented it?

Hi Sean, No, I am proposing an alternative business that utilizes the existing back end infrastructure. I think you would appreciate the concept, or at least poking holes in it.

I dont think thats patent squatting. For squatting you need to own the patent and then you collect royalties or sue people for infringement to get money instead of using the patent to create what is patented. Thats not what he is doing. If you mean patenting something that has been in use for years already, he is not doing that either.

That's funny. I don't have it yet - it takes around two years. Should we do away with copyrights too?

So are you saying you are planning on patent squatting?

Not at all.  I may have misinterpreted the tone of the post, but it seems to be inferring that patents are bad for society.

No, not at all, but patent squatting is a questionable business. I didnt think you were planning for that, so I defended you. But your reply made me doubt as you said you didnt have a patent yet, making me think you were planning on using it for squatting.  :D
