Eyemypics checks your portfolio in TinEye, so you don't need to do it manually for each photo yourself.

Shouldn't a software program like these be able to scan my portfolio with just my user name? I don't like putting my password in things I don't know much about.

I recommend refraining from giving your passwords to programs that you know nothing about.

Yes it should, all tineye needs is the URL of the image, and that is easy to get from the open portfolio.

Perhaps this thread should be removed until the application can be verified? Someone is bound to just click on the link and give them their account details.

I just did it. After I gave my password, nothing happened and the DOS window closed. I did it again. The password is not echoed, nor **** was echoed. Window closed, no trace of any application.
I opened the Task Manager and spotted an active process (no application) that I don't know. Killed it. Then changed my iStock password immediately.
I don't know whether the script made a payout request automatically, but my amount was still there and I asked payout immediately. It stinks. Leaf better remove the link, especially since the OP is a new user without portfolio links, and he has... err... "ru" in his nick. ;)
He can have left crap in my system. Im shutting down this PC and will use my PayPal password first on another PC, then all the other passwords. Not again please... This is the second time in a week I'll have to lose half a day.

Seriously guys, calm down. Do you panic the same when you start your Firefox or, god forbid IE? Beware, it stores and sends your passwords over the internet. ;D
First things first, eyemypics does not store your passwords or sends it anywhere except the corresponding microstock itself.
Look at the source code, use your firewall to check, be a tech-savvy, do not start a holy war.
As leaf mentioned above, there may not even be a need to login to get the large enough thumbnails for the TinEye.
I'll take a look at it and will keep you posted.

Diddo. I think I could find this tool quite helpful, but won't be using it if it requires me to enter my password.

Here is the short introduction to the internet safety, just to compensate the moral damaged done in all these topics above ;)
If the source code for the program is available, you can go and check it yourself. Not everyone is a programmer, so let's skip that part.
Be sure you use a firewall. Outpost, Kerio, there are dozens of them. I use Comodo Firewall as it is free for personal use.
Properly set up firewall will track all incoming and outgoing connections and warn you if, let's say eyemypics tries to send something (and it will as it will try to login to the microstock). Your firewall warns you that the application xxx sends something to the x.x.x.x. ip address. Go to http://ip-lookup.net (http://ip-lookup.net) or a similar web service to check who owns that web site. Based on that information you decide to allow or block the the access i your firewall.

Download eyemypics-1.1.1-win32.zip, unzip it and run main.exe.
It will open a console window and show you the list of stocks ("Make your choice:").
Type the number of stock you want to use and press enter.
Then you'll be asked for the username ("Username (userid for Fotolia)"), type it in and press enter.
It takes 3-10 sec, depending on your internet speed, to get the number of pages in your portfolio and you will see "N pages in your portfolio" line.
A few more seconds (depending on the size of the portfolio) and it will tell "Found X photos".
Then you'll see a progress bar, which is self explanatory.
Once a photo found to be used somewhere outside of microstock sites, it will be shown in a new window of your browser.

I've just had a go with it. I used Istock to try it with and came up with 101 results. They have started to open in windows but none of them are my images. All the results come from the same portfolio of another member whos username is nothing like mine.

I'm trying Fotolia at the moment and have come up with over 800 results of which all the ones that have opened so far are mine. I have had to stop it as it was taking over my computer and I couldn't do anything else. It would be nice to have a pause button so that I could do other things and also have a look at the ones already opened and then close the windows before going on to the next ones.

Wow this actually work better than tineye. I found many of my image, as well with less serious results. But at least I don't have to paste all my images properties adress. Still that make a lot of internet pages lol...

the search found one of my images on flickr - but when I click on it, it just says the member is no longer active. I suspect the guy's portfolio was deactivated. Finding improper use of our images is a good use for this app. Thanks again.

TinEye itself is supposed to be a fully featured but cutdown, single acces type version (kinda like jing for screencapture)
I can't think that they will allow this for long. Can you imagine what this will do to their public access servers if the micro community all hits them with complete database searches? Let's say half that? It's still about 4million search queries on a system that was designed for a "one by one" search.
ID say... Rather petition one of the big boys to add it as a feature... ID even pay for a search like that. Do it once every few weeks to see what's on where...

Hey guys, I am TinEye's CEO. Some of you may know me but I am a new participant in this forum. Thanks for your interest in TinEye. We know it will be a great too for all photographers to find where your images are appearing and being used. As you know the TinEye release we have out at the moment only allows you to search one image at a time. We are aware that this is a significant limitation for all of you and are working on our next release which will allow you to do exactly what you need: search an entire portfolio or simply track a set of images. We are looking forward to doing that in 2010. Of course keeping track of where your images are appearing requires that our index continues growing at a steady pace - which is our current focus.
As to Eyemypics: we do not allow automated scripts to hit our servers. That goes for any automated scripts, not just Eyemypics. I hope that you all understand that we are here to help you and provide one of the best image search engines - we just need your patience at the moment.

Forgiss: thanks for your comments. Indeed. That's exactly why we don't allow automated scripts to hit our servers. But not to worry we are working hard to bring you guys this feature. It will be out soon.
And yes, when you are referring to a commercial service I think you mean our Commercial API https://api.tineye.com/ which is currently a corporate offering. No worries: image search is our focus and making TinEye a photographer's best friend is in our plans!

I am a big fan of TinEye's, but lately it seems not to be finding anything new. With many of my bestsellers selling as XS, I suppose they should be in many websites. I know it is impossible to cover all Internet content, but have you stopped increasing your database?

Oh no, we have not stopped growing our database. Our latest updated added 32 million images. We also have an update going out on Monday (and a few announcements!). Growing our index is a big focus for us. We have taken a huge amount of time to figure out how to best do that, which sites to crawl and what type of content to add to TinEye. Remember even at 1.2 billion images are index is still small! If you haven't found where your images are currently appearing it is simply because we have yet to crawl the sites where they are appearing. Firstly Leila, I apologize for using your site in a way not allowed by your rules. It never occured to me that I was doing anything wrong.
Saying that, this would be a service that I would be willling to pay for. Before my IP address was blocked I had found about 20 book and cd covers etc that I hadn't seen before as well as images of mine being used with watermarks so probably being used illigally.
Leila, could you tell me if this will be a permanent ban or just temporary.

I better remove Eyemypics to avoid further problems.
It is easy to create a script, indistinguishably mimicking a stubborn user behavior allowed by the terms. Then banning the ip of a proper user might be a problem. Please, consider a restriction on the rate of requests from one ip instead of not allowing the script access.
The service similar to Google Alerts would be the best for a photographer. A photographer marks a set of images and receives a notification when a similar image appears in TinEye database. I'm not sure if it would be technically possible unless you use a really powerful clustering algorithm on your side :-)

Any chance to unblock our IP's now that we realize our screw up. Your app is truly awesome and I have used it almost daily (singularly of course)....I'm looking forward to your advancements and any help you could provide.

Yea sorry for using your website against the rules. But I'm not reading each website terms... Serioulsy microstockers are probably 50% of your traffic. I'm willing to pay a small amount of money, when tineye will be accurate and give me access to a bigger database. But I can't do that with my Ip adress blocked.
At least let the people from this forum access again...
