Author Topic: Is there a consensus on "best option" for submission tool? (Read 12163 times)

Been out of microstock for years but thinking about getting back in and actually doing something with my "b-roll" content.

Doing a bit of research and it seems some of the tools have just vanished or stopped updating. Then it also seems like there are some very new options.

I'm not looking to submit a LOT of photos (less than 50/month) and I'm debating about sticking to a couple agencies or submitting to a bunch. Is there really a feature difference between these options? As I've been out of it for a while, is there something important to look out for/something specific one of them does really well?

Oh, also, looking for an option that ends up being FREE

Looks like it's free for 33 files/agency per month. Maybe I can stay within that range as I ramp back up.. try it out! Very happy to pay for an enhanced workflow, but as I get back into this don't want to pay if I'm literally not GETTING paid

If you don't want to pay, then use a free FTP program like FileZilla!

Just giving it a try now. I noticed some site settings (i.e. Alamy) have a specific "Upload only" option. Why would I have some of these function in UPLOAD ONLY mode vs submit as well? And why don't others even have the option of "upload only"?

Good folder organization and a free FTP client. Anything more or anything less is suboptimal imho.

Saves me a lot of time keywording and submitting to multiple sites. I'm sure StockSubmitter may have more features but this does everything I need and it's free.

On batches of maybe 50 or more in one go I often just use it to add the metadata and then use filezilla to actually upload as a couple sites occasionally have timeout issues with it on large batches and end up dropping files but mostly it works fine.

Depends how you are doing the metadata. If you're keywording files and adding titles individually in Lightroom or just in windows then it takes a lot longer than batch editing them in a dedicated program, assuming you upload a lot and aren't exclusive that is.

Obviously though if everything is just jammed into one folder rather than being organised it's going to waste time.

I have folders structured by upload date. I do keyword and do titles individually but I don't do so many similars that I think I would save that much time using a batch process. It was the bit about folder structure that confused/intrigued me
