Title: Moneybookers doesn't work between USA and EU anymore
Post by: Dreamframer on September 02, 2011, 11:37
So, Monebyookers just informed me that they won't process transaction between American and European users anymore. :(
I wonder how will people from countries that don't do business with PayPal receive their earnings in the future.
Are there any good alternatives for sending money from USA to EU?
Ivan

Looks like only I use Moneybookers. Maybe that's why they cut off the service :D

I used it at one point, when istock was having their issues with paypal, but they charge a fee so I discontinued it.

I use Moneybookers. How did they inform you? I didn't receive any message from them.

Yes, they charge a fee. But commissions on currency conversion are better so it may be convenient in some cases.

Understood. For those outside the US, it is/was a good choice.

Are you sure you didn`t jsut get a phishing or fake mail?
I haven`t received anything from them nor did I find anything else on the web or their hp to confirm this.

It wasn't an email. I tried to make a transaction from my American bank account to Moneybookers, and then I saw the message saying that Moneybookers discontinued transferring money from American users to users in the EU.

Wow, this would be very strange and definitely the death of MB....did anybody from EU receive their payments from US agencies through MB lately?

I use MB only for payments from Shutterstock and everything was fine. All other payments I receive on my PayPal acc and then I withdraw from PP to Payoneer US virtual acc.
Maybe is little bit complicated with additional fees but you can avoid taxing by this way.
Whitechild I hope this will be helpful for you too.

This is very distressing to hear Ivan.  It sounds like that has the potential to be quite a problem for people in EU and for people sending them money.  Have you contacted them to see if there is some sort of workaround?

Yes Lisa, I contacted them and I just received their reply. It goes like this:

"Dear Mr. Paunovic,

Thank you for contacting Moneybookers customer service.

We would like to inform you that you can send and receive funds from merchants registered in the United States of America, also we have now launched our digital wallet for US end customers so you can also send and receive money from any account registered under Moneybookers Inc. entity.

If the receipient is not sure if he falls into that category they can always contact us via our support centre or us-service@moneybookers for further assistance.

Best regards,

Chris
The Moneybookers Team."

So, it seems that I couldn't make a transaction simply because my account is a regular one. Now I just don't understand this part: "also we have now launched our digital wallet for US end customers so you can also send and receive money from any account registered under Moneybookers Inc. entity.". I have to ask them about it.

Thanks for the update dreamframer! Looks like all the MB suers can relax now in regards of receiving their payments :-)

I could not receive money from Cutcaster because of that more than year ago, so this is an old information from MB ...
Also, on this forum and SS forum is official statement that this won't have affect on Shutterstock...

Just some of low earner egenices have had problems with payouts on MB, every bigger agencies were opened bank accounts in Europe...

Great to know!
I just wonder why they dont transfer the money directly into the bank accounts of european contributors if they already have bank accounts set up. It is without noticable fees and much faster and reliable than sending the money through a third party company like MB or PP.

I receive payments at MB and then I send them to my bank account in UK. Isn't that allowed anymore?  ???
