All right guys
I took the plunge and bought ProStockMaster (http://www.prostockmaster.com/?refcode=9537). I've been testing it for a few weeks and it's just sooooooooo great!
The big thing for me was to be able to upload "ftp-like" to Istock and it does! It even adds a default category so that your images go straight in the review queue instead of pending! This is awesome for someone like me who has to wait a week to upload and want to upload ASAP so that I can re-upload at the same time the following week.
You can upload to 8 micros one after the other with just one click. I call it my click and go option. ;D
Just in a few weeks I've made the cost of the software back jus in time saved.
I strongly recommend it!

Cost is $49.
Looks good. Uploads to 8 sites. the only missing one is StockXpert. Gives sales statistics. Gives keywording help
not sure how it deals with all the photos you have all ready uploaded? Anyone know?
There is a free license, the only restriction is that you are limited to 5 uploads a day which would be annoying ( it should be 8 so you can upload one pic a day to all sites).
They even give referals if you bring in buyers - 25%.

:(
-
It looks pretty impressive and 5 uploads a day is more than enough for me.
Any security issues related to giving the software our passwords?
Regards,
Adelaide
-
5 uploads are you talking about 5 images to all sites or just 1 image to 5 sites?
-
Well, this is what they say:
License changes: the free license has no time limitation anymore! You can download and use ProStockMaster with the free license as long as you wish. You can upload up to 5 images daily under the free license. If you wish to remove the upload limit we recommend you purchasing your personal software activation code anytime.
So it is written 5 images indeed, isn't it?
Regards,
Adelaide
-
ok
I've just tried it.
It's slow reading images on a Mac Powerbook but who cares!
It's sweet to upload to 8 sites without any trouble.
I've tested it with one image to all the sites except canstock and Istock.
Haven't been hable to upload to LO
One image to 6 sites is ok in the free version.
I'll test it with some more images and probably I'll buy the full version

Hi ..............is there a trick to getting this installed :(
i have java but i still cant install this :(
thanks
sherrie

I also had trouble installing. I re-downloaded and then had no problems.

Any security issues related to giving the software our passwords?
???
Prostockmaster looks pretty good but what about security ? You give 8 accounts with 8 passwords. Anybody knows this company ?
-
I cannot get this to work with IS. It says that the files have been uploaded but then the bar keeps moving like it is still in progress and I never get the confirmation that the uploads completed. I tried several times with the same results. It worked ok for other sites. Has anyone else had a problem uploading to IS?
-
pöh i can not change to fotolia.de... only com... when i open this software my whole computer gets crazy! Good idea i think, but not for us europeans, it would be better when i was able to put other agencies in, the market dont exist of microstock!

i think about that too i have never put my user-dates or passwords in.. i only play with the software... lol my computer dont like it... he gets crazy.. so i endet it and i think its not for me... i cant put in fotolia.. german... lol
-
Except for Istock, I already upload to 7 sites using ftp with one click. It would be nice to have that for istock though. Looks like a pretty good program, but I don't think I'm comfortable with them having all my passwords stored on their server. I'm not sure why they do that too because I don't think it's necessary.
-
why do you say all the passwords are on theire server?
I'm using Mac and I have a folder created by the software saying it's the Prostockmarter DB
I guess passwords should be stored around here locally. Not in some server.
But If it's not the case I'll be worried.
-
i would be concerened if the passwords were stored online in their server, but on your own computer there is less of a risk.
Does this program keep track of, for example, the earnings of a certain image (and every other individual image) across all sites.
-

Now you talk ;D
All the best,

here's the response I got which gives me great confidence...
"Your credentials are stored securely (in the encrypted database) on your local computer. This data is used to access your web account in supported stock sites and it is never passed through the Internet or in any other way neither to any third party not to ProStockMaster web site.
This application’s behavior has been verified multiple numbers of times by independent software labs/vendors, e.g. by Softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/progClean/ProStockMaster-Clean-53790.html
I want people to use my software for free and buy it if they have tried ProStockMaster, they like it and want to remove daily upload limitation. I assume it is a clean, simple and very fair business model. There are no hidden tricks inside the software or on the web site.
Best regards,
David
On behalf of ProStockMaster Support Team"
I hope this helps you guys. I know I feel better now. :)
-
thanks.
-
This data is used to access your web account in supported stock sites and it is never passed through the Internet or in any other way neither to any third party not to ProStockMaster web site.
That is an ambiguous statement. It says that it never passes info thru the Web, but then states that the info is used to access your web account. ???
I know what he means, but it was worded weird.
-
Ok about security. My concern was some sort of spyware thing.
Anyway, what about the upload limit in the free version? Is it really 5 images a day of five (sites x images) a day?

Adelaide

Finally I got some time to look what goes on with our software on the forums.
This summer ProStockMaster starts the third year of its Internet life and we celebrate it by delivering the new and extremely powerful version 1.5. As usual, this release is for both Windows and Mac OS X and we plan delivering a Linux version very soon too (tested on Ubuntu 8.04.1 with Sun Java 5 & 6)
You can get your copy here (http://www.prostockmaster.com/download.php)
For v1.5 we decided to focus on the application improvements and new innovative functionality.
First of all, it means performance improvements, GUI changes, improving the reliability of uploads and errors handling. The application runs much faster now on both Mac and Windows platforms, it verifies the delivery status of the images sent, re-sending the image in case of the network failure, allows you to control image statuses and upload history for any image and any agency and do many other things that we always wanted to add but never had time to do that :-)
Next, we added many new features, making keywording a child play from now on. Among other innovative ideas that we implemented in v1.5 we have build a completely new "Manage Keywords" dialog with the built-in translation function. The idea behind this is quite simple: you do you your best when you describe your image in your native language. So, if you want to describe your image in e.g. Deutsch you just select "German" as your input language (see below) and start entering your keywords in German! They will be translated on-the-fly to English and, if you use the keywords generation, matching English keywords will be found.
With this new stuff the image keywording gets extremely easy. And to make it even better, v1.5 sports "Import/Export" menus allowing you to save and restore keywords templates per a category. Since we recommend just using your the file system for the categories tree, there is no limitation on number of categores and sub-categories in your category tree. And the best - you can save CSV files with keywords for any category in your native language, requesting the translation on keywords import. Here is an example of how one can handle this stuff:
In fact, the translation functionality is now the core part of ProStockMaster and we use it here too:
I guess the screen shot is quite self-explanational, but just in case: with ProStockMaster v1.5 you can translate all the metadata in your images to another supported language (western languages - ISO-8859-1). The new image set will be saved in a different folder, keeping your original images immutable. So, you can sell you work now through European agencies too, just translating your images to German, French, Italian or Spanish.
What else? Well there are many, many things! Take a look at Release Notes (http://www.prostockmaster.com/release_notes.php) to get some ideas of what was done in v1.5. Or get the binaries from our web site and run the software on your machine. We are committed to the same licensing policy since June 2006, and you can get all these new features with a free license, allowing you to upload up to 5 images daily.
Many customers ask if we have any plans adding more new agencies. Yes, we have such plans and the next version 1.6 among other new and innovative features will come up with at least two new microstocks. And as we always did, we will continue to lead the stock photography desktop software market by excellence and continued technology innovation. Keeping the same upgrade policy for more than 2 years now, I am happy to say that all the v1.5 customers are eligible for v1.6 upgrade free of charge.
If you have any question regarding v1.5 - do not hesitate asking me. I'll be happy to answer you question either in this thread or by email (emails can be sent by filling in Contact Us (http://www.prostockmaster.com/contact_us.php) or Support (http://www.prostockmaster.com/support.php) form on our web)

No matter how easy it is.. I would never use an unofficial program like this one..
How do you know they won't steal your passwords? How do you know it is safe? How will you react if one day your earnings are sent to someone else's paypal account?
-
Just checked a new version. A lot of good improvements, but still couple key features are missing:
- ability to add an arbitrary stock
- duplicate detection/filtering on keywords (works only in generator, making main window keyword panel useless. In generator - useless for list entry, as it stops on the first duplicate detected)
- [speculation based on how long it took to make a new version with SX upload broken in old one] slow support
For now - Cushy wins...

For now - Cushy wins...
- More stocks: we have a few requests to add more stocks and we will do it in the next release. We are prefer to work with the most established and profitable agencies, thus bringing the real value to our customers.
- I am not sure I understand what is missed with keywords duplicates. The "Manage Keywords" dialog is designed that way that in the left (Generate) column the duplicates are allowed. This is done in purpose, since you might want to see the duplicates created by the generator for the different keywords that you entered.
However, once you click on the column header ("Generated keywords" string at the top) the keywords are sorted alphabetically and all the duplicates are removed. Another way to remove duplicates is just pressing ">>" button, which will move all the selected keywords from the "generation" list to the "selected" list.
And if you still want to use plain text window to type in your keywords, like we did in the older versions of PSM, you can do it too. The duplicates will be sorted out and removed when you press "Save" button. We kept this ability since it is convenient to copy & paste keywords from an external application this way (e.g. Notepad, Word)
- Speaking about support I think you are confusing between customer support and the development time. We provide excellent customer support for all our customers, either free or paying - check it out. For the development time, we prefer to test and fix the software before it is delivered to the market and not after that.
-
I really like Prostockmaster.
I updated to the new version, and it works all fine on my Mac.
-
I'll give the new version a shot, however the old version was lacking in several features I like in Cushy...
I agree that I want the ability to add FTP sites myself rather than someone else deciding whether or not a vendor is good enough.
I am not fond of lots of popup windows when it comes time to upload. It should be constrained to a new tab or something.
I did run into a couple of sites that could not read the IPTC data written to the file. So there might be a bug there. When I loaded the file into Cushy and resaved the data, those sites were able to read the data.
Nice program, but for the moment I have to agree that Cushy gets my vote for the better program.

We have no previous reports with such strange behavior. If you can reproduce it I'll be happy to get some more info: what sites you are speaking about, what files etc. Please drop me a message to our support(at)prostockmaster(dot)com account and we'll take care of this matter.
Nice program, but for the moment I have to agree that Cushy gets my vote for the better program.
Let me remind you that ProStockMaster was and remains forever the first in the world software for the microstock contributors, while all the rest are "me too" applications. We have created this photostock desktop software market and we will continue leading it by the technology innovation.
-
I will see if it is still happening with the new version and I will email you with a link to a sample and the site I had the issue on.
And I think your software is very nice, but for me personally, it doesn't do much of what I'd like a program to do (neither does Cushy in most cases). My biggest issue is just that the workflow is completely different from how I work and it "feels like work" when I use it.
For the moment, Cushy works more like I do. And it has features that your software does not (at this time, probably). Most importantly, it allows me to add FTP sites to upload images. I haven't downloaded your latest version yet, but I think I read a response from you that you only support sites you feel are worthwhile.
I'll keep an eye out on your product and keep trying the new versions. Hopefully you'll get to the point where it's worth the fee for me.
-
- More stocks: we have a few requests to add more stocks and we will do it in the next release. We are prefer to work with the most established and profitable agencies, thus bringing the real value to our customers.
Your motto says "by photographers for photographers". Sorry I did not realize that yn "for" part you mean only those that are in "by" one :)
And if you still want to use plain text window to type in your keywords, like we did in the older versions of PSM, you can do it too. The duplicates will be sorted out and removed when you press "Save" button. This is not true. They are not removed. One would need to hunt them manually to remove, or use sorting approach - farewell sites that have priority of first keywords

We provide excellent customer support for all our customers, either free or paying - check it out. I think that confusion is on your side :) Fixing problems is also a part of customer support.
Do not take me wrong, I believe that Prostockmaster is a great program. I just do not buy "we are the best because we were the first".
-
ProStockMaster is evolving. I talked to David some months ago and suggested a number of improvements. Some of them are already incorporated in v1.5 (like manual editing of the image data to track accepted/rejected images on various sites etc.).
I also had the pleasure of having an early look at beta v1.5 and I believe that ProStockMaster wil be further developed and improved. Lots of good features there, and more are coming.
-
Do not take me wrong, I believe that Prostockmaster is a great program. I just do not buy "we are the best because we were the first".
Bingo. This plus the"we know what's best for you" attitude is annoying.
I like the new translation feature, although I'm not sure which agencies allow non-english keywords.
The only IPTC data it supports is Title, Description and Keywords. No custom fields support.
The right column with the thumbnails does not refresh automatically when new images are placed into the folder. You have to leave the folder and come back and it doesn't cache the thumbnail images, they have to be regenerated every single time.
You can't use it to organize photos (I'd like to see the thumbnail column in the middle and support dragging/dropping to the folder area to let me move photos into different folders).
The bottom area which lists the sites should update when you select "upload->statistics". In fact, I would like it to automatically connect and get data when the program runs.
It doesn't remember the window size/position when you exit. So I have to manually maximize it every time I run it, unless I modify the shortcut myself.
I don't like the dark color and there is no option to change it.
I HATE programs that ask me to confirm that I want to exit there are no preferences to turn that off.
Overall it's a pretty good program and what it does, it does very well. But it's missing lots of features. The two features that stand out are a superior keyword suggestion system to Cushy and the new translator. But it has almost no configurability (you can set thumbnail sizes and a few other minor options).
Those two keyword features don't make it a superior program, I don't care if the author invented the Stock industry. :)
-
dnavarro - good points indeed, thanks for your comments.
We'll take it in consideration for the next release and I am sure you'll see many of your suggestions implemented in the further releases.
It's very good to have a community that helps to build the application which really match our needs.
Thank you again and I hope you will agree to review the next release too :-).

I am happy to announce the new v1.5.1 release of ProStockMaster.
Among other things, this new release directly addresses many issues raised in this forum' thread.
Let me start from them:
I don't like the dark color and there is no option to change it.
v1.5.1 introduces 25+ new GUI skins, available from the “View->Skins” menu.
The application will start with the default gray Look and Feel skin,
but you can change it anytime according to your taste.
Here are some samples of GUI skins distributed with ProStockMaster v1.5.1:
Windows Native (Available on Windows only)
Mac Native (Available on Mac only)
Business style (any platform)
Sahara (any platform)
Quaqua (any platform)
Red Marble (any platform)
... more skins are available
I HATE programs that ask me to confirm that I want to exit there are no preferences to turn that off.
I hate them too! :-)
So this is what we did:
And if you still want to use plain text window to type in your keywords, like we did in the older versions of PSM, you can do it too. The duplicates will be sorted out and removed when you press "Save" button. We kept this ability since it is convenient to copy & paste keywords from an external application this way (e.g. Notepad, Word)
This is not true. They are not removed. One would need to hunt them manually to remove, or use sorting approach - farewell sites that have priority of first keywords
What I can say? UncleGene was right. This worked OK in the older v1.4.1 but it was lost in v1.5.0 due to the new keywords dialog introduction. Now we fixed it v1.5.1.
The duplicate keywords are now automatically removed from the keywords text pane in the IPTC panel when you press “Save” button or if you switch to another image, keeping the metadata changes you made.
In fact, we see that people use the new “Manage Metadata” dialog which was introduced in v1.5.0, instead of typing in keywords directly in the text window located in the IPTC panel. People appreciate the convenient keywords generation, built-in translation, duplicates removal and metadata copying, allowed by this new window. In v1.5.1 "Manage Metadata" got 2 more fields: “Title” and “Description”, thus allowing to copy the entire metadata set from one image to many others.
The right column with the thumbnails does not refresh automatically when new images are placed into the folder.
The true auto-refresh function could be quite challenging for a multi-platform application which has to implement it on Windows, Mac and Linux.
However, we understand the need and we have added manual folder' refresh with F5 button whenever it is applicable (multiple menus in the application). F5 will also work directly from the keyboard allowing you to refresh the currently viewed images folder if its content has been changed by an external application.
We also added Cut/Copy/Paste and a few more related context menus to any text filed in the application
(http://www.prostockmaster.com/images/ccp_txt_menu.gif)
What else?
- Statistics for Fotolia are improved, showing up now the monthly numbers along with the totals. Also Fotolia statistics are fixed for users registered at all the international Fotolia sites like es.fotolia.com, fotolia.co.uk, de.fotolia.com, it.fotolia.com and fotolia.fr.
- Added the ability to delete images, selected for upload directly from the upload queue for any agency
(http://www.prostockmaster.com/images/delete_from_upload_queue.gif)
- Context menu added in the image preview area
(http://www.prostockmaster.com/images/preview_context_menu.jpg)
- Added an ability to open the full-size viewer by double-clicking on a thumbnail in any upload queue
- Upload progress window is changed to provide fine-granulated upload progress both for the current file and for the entire batch
(http://www.prostockmaster.com/images/upload_progress.gif)
The last but not the least - v1.5.1 is the first release which adds Linux as a supported operating system.
Overall it's a pretty good program and what it does, it does very well.
I just forgot to say thank you for that – so thank you, I am very happy you think so.
Let me just add, that “what it does not”, it will do very soon :-)
-
One thing that I really like (well, I should like it, it was my idea) is the manual editing of the database. For instance - since IStock does not have FTP, I upload images with Filezilla - and then just edit image info in Prostockmaster. Helps keeping track of what was sent where. Overall - I like this program more and more.
-
When can we expect the ability to add any stock site?
-
There is one more significant problem that stops me from using PSM - it damages the adobe-specific data. To the level that if I want to change e.g. rank in bridge, for ~30% of files edited with PSM I'd have to re-open and save them (loosing quality).
This was true for previous version, I have no desire to try a new one until somebody assure me that damage will not happen.
-
UncleGene - May I ask you why you never reported such a serious issue to us, preferring to publish your dramatic experience in public exactly at the time when we announce the new version?
I would not call it a fair approach. You gave us absolutely no chance to find and fix your problem.
Instead, you preferred to come here and now and tell people: "hey, do not use PSM, it damage your files!"
I do not know your motives for doing that.
I do not know WHY you did not report this issue when you found it.
I even do not know if such an issue exist . I never heard about that and we did not get any complain before that.
Yes, I can assume that even after two years on the market ProStockMaster can still has some unknown issues and bugs. Let us know and we will fix it fast. We can not fix something that we are unaware about, can we?
However, this is not my point. My point is that what you are doing in your responses in this thread and in some other ProStockMaster-related discussions does not help others in getting a better software, absolutely not. You definitely do not want to help other contributors by reporting the issues you found and requesting a better software and a better service.
Again, I do not know what are your motives, but you UncleGene demonstrate a very unfair approach to our software.
-
Hm, I don't know if this is really an issue or not, but I don't think it's also fair to expect people to report problems like they are obliged to do so. I think I can safely assume UncleGene is not a paid tester for ProStockMaster?
-
"I think I can safely assume UncleGene is not a paid tester for ProStockMaster? "
Probably not. OTOH - maybe you should try and create a program like this yourself ?
I do some programming myself - and I know how difficult it is to create a truly bug-free product with great functionality (I am not even sure that athing like this exists...).
I do not remember how much I paid for PSM - probably about $50 or so (someone correct me if I am wrong). Which is less than I make per hour. PSM took probably a thousand + hours to make, if my experience with programming is of any guidance.
In other words - I do not think it unreasonable that a little bit of support from the users goes a long way with products like PSM. All other things aside - one (or a couple of programmers) can't even come close to the number of ideas and insights that couple of hundred (or thousand) of users may have.
There are certain expectations for a product coming from a big corporation (which makes billions), and a bit different expectations for a product which, when all is said and done, is being distributed for a very small fee. And the big guys still sell you software costing $$$ - with bugs.
So - why shouldn't you do as much as at least report the bug ?
I did, and I have no affiliation with PSM whatsoever.
I guess most people expect the world for a small change ($50 or so), while being ready to sue the council when slipping on a banana skin in a public place...
-
what sport fans... you throw a product out there and the first time someone says something you don't like.. loads of new members come on to bash the crap out of them. Take it one the chin... learn from it and better your product.
Your attitude will help sway a lot of people towards your product. and if you can't take criticism, this really isn't the game for you.
Twice when you've started this "buy my product" thread, I've headed to your site and have tried to download the trial version. Each time I've downloaded the trial software to 3 computers and 3 times the files have been corrupted. No trial yet... 2 outs, bottom of the 9th. Ball is on your hands.
I don't have the time in my life to chase you...THAT'S NOT MY JOB! if your product / software doesn't work, I move on... simple as that. No complaints..
Do your job with style and grace... loads more people will respect you and your product.
My 2 cents. Cheers, JC
-
As a software developer myself, I am all for reporting bugs. I think it's a nice thing to do especially to support small authors.
However, what is not nice is the author's DEMAND from users to report bugs and bashing of those who do, but not in time for the latest release. Attitude in business can mean a lot.
Just my 2 cents.
-
Really WOW.....
-
UncleGene did exactly what he should do. Tried out the software and gave feedback on his thoughts in a constructive manner. If the problem is there, it is nice for the rest of us to know and determine if it is going to be a problem for us, and important for the developers to know to be able to fix the problem. The fact that UncleGene was 'slapped on the hand' for providing feedback is quite surprising.
-
UncleGene did exactly what he should do. Tried out the software and gave feedback on his thoughts in a constructive manner.
I can not agree with you. The earlier posts by dnavarrojr in this thread is an excellent example of a really constructive feedback.
He pointed out what in his opinion is wrong in the version he reviewed and how he would like to see the future release. This is something that you can "take home" and make changes in the software, this is obviously a constructive feedback.
Alternatively, coming and saying "hey, there is an issue! there is an issue!" without giving us a chance to find it and fix it takes us nowhere. Absolutely nowhere. And I mean all of us, not just me, since nobody benefits of this approach.
Are you still sure that you want calling this a "constructive feedback"?
I would not.
This is all I said in my previous post and I stay for that. Every single word.
goldenangel says above that I should not demand people to report the bugs.
That's right, I should not. You make photos. We develop software. You like it - you buy it. Simple like that.
In the reality it does not work that way.
First, we make photos too. Second, many of you also develop some software :)
Third, we have a luck to work with a very active community of microstock shooters that really need our software, use it daily and continuously demand more features and better software.
At the end it all makes our software development very much a community-driven process.
In our case most people just WILLING to help and I am happy to accept their kindly help and their wise recommendations. In fact, this is exactly what is going on in this thread too.
Well, with some obvious exceptions, I guess...
-
Seriously Dave...what's your problem? so you don't like someone's version of constructive criticism? who cares really... you're here to flog your product and nothing else.
to me, this is becoming some bad Irish joke. (no offense to all our Irish friends here)
You happly sent me the links to download your product once again.. I've just tried it twice and I get the same message each time and I don't care which computer in my office I try.. everytime I try and open the .exe file I get " The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." here we go again!
Between your attitude towards photogs here and the fact I can't even get an uncorrupted setup file.. I'm suggesting to others ... this my not be worth the headaches, but that's just my opinion.
If you can't get this part right.. I hate to think what the rest of the programs' like.
Good luck... I think you might need it.
Cheers, JC

I believe that the problem is in general PSM attitude - 'we know better what is good for community'
Thus 'constructive' means only 'constructive for PSM'.
For PSM users:
Bugs may be very system-specific, and it is quite possible that you are fine. Way to verify:
1. _Copy_ a bunch of files edited with PSM to a new place (if you do not have a backup)
2. Open folder in adobe bridge
3. Select all, Label - ***** (ctrl-5 on pc) (or any other label)
4. Visually check all thumbs - if all of them have '5*', you are fine.
-
Thanks UncleGene, I appreciate that very much!

v1.5.3 released today fixes the recent issue with keywords generation, adding more intelligence to the keywords suggestion mechanism.
Teh new algorithm brings more relevant results if you feed it with many descriptive keywords.
So, if in past the best mode was entering keyword by keyword, now the best mode is to type in some descrptive keyphrase, like:
yacht ocean coast beach sail
and get the results that relevant to these keywords combination.
Also, solving the "can not download" issue PSM is now available directly from our web - no registration required:
http://www.prostockmaster.com/download.php (http://www.prostockmaster.com/download.php)
Mac, Windows and Linux - all packages are there.
Should you still have any problem, the binaries will be available soon through sites like Apple.com and Download.com.
-
Well I just tried it out for few hours and :
Thing I miss or I couldn't figure them out , or I think would make it more useful than now
Alphabetical sort for keywords - almost a must for me
I would like to see copy IPTC data in a click option ( I mean right clicking the thumb , copy data , shift clicking multiple thumbs and pasting whole image info) , rather than exporting text files or adding similar images and browsing folders etc.
Working in multiple windows ( like in bridge ) would make my workflow way more simple.
And stats for several sites are not accurate or have data missing.
Once again I spent just few hours with it so maybe I couldn't find some options that are possibly there

What does it mean when the software does an automatic upgrade and won't start anymore? Error failed to update DB schema Did this on two different computers.
Downloaded the newest release, installed. Hey, cool, it found my data, and the earnings database looks clean and clear.
Request for future version if it's not something that I missed or it's not over complicated. Can you make the Earnings page so it can be printed?
When I activated the Alamy account it shows an upload with no files arrived. Is this a one time login verification?
-
Lizard:
Alphabetical sorting of keyword is available in "Manage Metadata" window. Clicking there on the keywords list column header will sort keywords alphabetically (asc/desc order) and will remove duplicates (relevant for 'suggested keywords' column).
Among other well-hidden features: ALT-click on thumbnail or preview shows the essential metadata: shutter speed, f-stop, ISO, file size - just the short summary
Metadata copy in context menu - thanks for the tip, great suggestion, we'll do it. And thanks for the other comments.
RacePhoto:
Auto-update is incremental and typically works well if your current version is relatively new, i.e. "2-3 releases old".
This is because we want to save time and bandwidth during the upgrade.
For the older versions the recommended practice is just to re-download the full software archive.
The same is correct if after the auto-upgrade your software suddenly behaves strange :-)
The latest binaries are located here:
http://www.prostockmaster.com/download.php (http://www.prostockmaster.com/download.php)
On Windows, if you install the new version in the same folder you are done.
On Mac, install PSM in a separate folder, run the app and select "Connect", pointing to the previous DB location. Thus your new version will start working with the previous DB.
Reports printing is a very nice idea, thanks for requesting it. This feature becomes very important with the planned increase of statistics data reporting.
-
I just wanted to say that I found this software because of the site and it's perfect for someone like me. I need a nice system to keep organized and it really helps. I have the free version right now but someday I will upgrade. I know right now you all are going back and forth on some stuff, but I'm glad the info was posted here.
-
I'm stll testing/using the trial version. I really like the keywording and preparation capabilities, especially being able to duplicate data from one image across several. The interface is much more intuitive than the trial version of Cushy Stock. After trying both, I settled on ProStock.
I'm new to the business and uploading to only three agencies, but ... when/if I expand, this software will be even more valuable.
This isn't a sales pitch. .... Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... maybe it should be. Got any free samples, David? ;)
-
I've just downloaded the free trial version for Win but when I was to install it, I got this message: " The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program."
I went back and downloaded again a new copy... only to have the same message again.
So, how am I supposed to test the program in order to buy it if I like it?
Tx

I use the program and like it a lot, great interface and the upload feature works well. Saves me a lot of time! I highly recommend buying the program.

How does it handle the explanation of keywords on iStock? You use the keyword "Orange", and then iStock asks you to check off, if you meant "color" or "fruit".
-
rimglow, you got it right type your keywords in prostock and them you will have to do the final edit in istock for disambiguation.
-
Can I upload (with free version) ONLY 5 images or 5 images on a each agency...
-
Five on each agency. You can use it, however, for keywording and do your uploads later.

Thanks Warren!

I use a Mac Pro with 4 internal hard drives.
I do not keep any files on the primary drive as I reserve that drive for applications only.
I installed the trial version of Prostock-Master and for the life of me I could not figure out how to get it to see my non-primary hard drives.
Since I don't have the time for steep learning curve software, uninstalled it.

Can I upload (with free version) ONLY 5 images or 5 images on a each agency...
All you have to do is click on the agencies you want to upload to, and click on the file folder, which would have only five photos in it of course, and it connects and sends to all of the agencies. One easy process, instead of connecting and playing with each agencies individual, sometimes convoluted, upload procedures. Then you just go and verify the uploads, validate, add categories... and they are off for review.
I've been working on other projects so I don't upload five photos a month. I don't even use the keyword feature. The demo version is fully functional within the five files in a 24 hour period limitation. Someone doing more than that a day, should buy the software and make their life easier. You could start it and go to sleep while it sends to all of your agencies.
No I don't work for ProStockMaster and I didn't get paid to write this. ;D
-
So I see ProStockMaster asking for us to submit bugs and feature requests. How? I keep sending contact forms from their site and never get a reply. Whats the deal? Where do we send these requests?
-
Brandon,
Thank you for asking.
The best way to submit your suggestions / bug report is by sending us an email to support(at)prostockmaster.com.
We always answer all incoming emails whenever they come from: web forms, chat or by email. Typically, we will answer you just in a few hours, and almost never longer than in 24h. As far as I can see you sent us your inquiry 8 hours ago.
You are also welcome talking to us with our new LiveChat now available on major pages on our web. LiveChat / Technical Support Online feature is typically active during most of the working hours CET time.

I tried it briefly last weekend.
I'm not too thrilled about the user interface. I find it a bit unclear how to select images to the upload que.
I think it would be GREAT if the system supported drag n drop. - Both from "inside the program, and from windows / MAC filemanager.
I do all my keyworing and descriptioning while procesing the files in photoshop, so what I need stockmaster PRO for, is only the multible site upload interface.
This is why the DRAD n DROP files functionality would be great!
Best regards
Flemming

I have great program to upload to several sites automatically. It's free and no limits. It's called Filezilla, an open source FTP client that is platform-independent (Windows, Mac, Linux). Use the "site manager" to fill in the site's FTP url, user name and password once, per site... et voila. It works for all sites except SV and IS, but for IS, there is the free MetaData.
For keywording, I use my own (free) script (http://flemishdreams.com/tag) that does spellcheck, ordering, automatic removal of duplicates and more. Use it together with good old Irfanview in batch mode.
Three free tools that give yourself control over your images, not a proprietary database, not a choked down application. And your passwords stay on your own disk.
-
hi FlemishDreams...
Thanks, but I actually DO use the filezilla... Maybe it's my lack of understanding for this program, but I don't how to process the same upload que for several sites automatically..... Automatically meaning selecting several sites from the site manager up front - and then staring the upload for all selected sites....
-

SmartFTP was better at it, but then it went paying. It could handle concurrent threads. Probably FileZilla can do it too, but I had no time to check it out yet. This year I already uploaded 12 batches to a number of sites and how I do it is to start several instances of FileZilla. The next instance always starts with the folder you're working in, so it's quite easy. One might think that it adds memory overhead but it's not true watching the processes in the Vista process monitor. Each new instance just adds little overhead. Probably most is handled in the DLL's that are only loaded once.
You can set your remote directory too in FileZilla, like is needed with some sites. With ShutterStock and Bigstock, you have to limit your concurrent uploads to one only, in the "Transfer settings" tab.
You could argue that it still takes some clicks more than an integrated automatic uploader, but in the workflow, those extra 2 minutes (maximum) don't really count compared to the work it takes on the sites itself to submit (categorize, mrf attach, agree ad nauseum with their terms, etc...). I don't want to undercut Prostockmaster but as an ex IT pro I prefer transparent solutions with proven mainstream software over a proprietary database that can get corrupted, lost, or be buggy. I just like to be in control and to see what's happening, having witnessed some software disasters in the past (with customers) that relied too much on niche-software.
-
Thanks :D
I used SmartFTP in the past too... Great little simple program... A pitty it's not free anymore >:(
Thank you for the multiple instance idea, must try that out ASAP... Apart from that, I fully agree... Most other funstionalities, other than the multiple upload functionality, is not nessesary.
I think it's very convenient simply to add the keywords and description as a part of the editing workflow. Since I'm uning CS3, this is where keywording is done..
If anyone ´knows and uses a FTP program supporting multiple sites upload - and maybe with a better general userinterface than Filezilla, it would be nice to know.
-
I paid for it and used it for a while but had serious problems with the software leaving out metadata for about 2 in 10 downloads. In the end I was so pissed off I stopped using it and went back to ftp. Oh, and I downloaded the iStock add-on for iPhoto which works better with iStock than Prostockmaster (PSM seriously screws up disambiguation).

I am happy to announce that we have just released v1.6.0 which comes up with a new stock photography agency PantherMedia.net and with a new exciting opportunity to offer your images at midstock prices.
PantherMedia is a Munich, Germany based stock photography agency with rock solid reputation and an impressive success record since their foundation in 2004.
If you want a detailed description what we do in v1.6 and why we do that, go here (http://"http://blog.prostockmaster.com/2009/01/20/co-operation-with-panthermedia-and-you-g"). The latest PantherMedia newsletter announcing our co-operation is here. (http://"http://www.panthermedia.net/tellmatic/files/newsletter/nl_20090115164639_p.html")
If you prefer to get it in a nutshell, here are you go:
- PantherMedia is the first stock agency which is tightly integrated with PSM. PantherMedia uses proprietary PSM SA API which provides you with the per image stats directly on your desktop, with ProStockMaster image viewing. Remember these "downloads", "status" and "earnings" fields shown in PSM for every image and every agency? Now for PantherMedia-submitted images you get all this data automatically, thanks to PSM - PM integration.
This is just the first phase and there is more to come in the later phase two of the integration.
- PantherMedia is a midstock agency which has been recently adding a microstock offering. Your images can sell for up to EURO 449.90 (http://"http://www.panthermedia.net/index.php?page=cms/pages/display2.php&cms_id=571"). Now compare it to the microstock prices we all are familiar with.
How it looks?
- with PantherMedia you keep up to 60% of the sale price. Again, compare it with $0.33 or $0.25 you get per an image sale in some famous microstocks.
- if you register with PantherMedia (http://"http://prostockmaster.panthermedia.net") you can get PSM PRO license for just $59.99 instead of $89.99 list price (which is 33% off). 1-2 sales with PantherMiedia midstock collection and you pay your PSM license back.
- with PSM, which gives you unlimited metadata translations, you can index your images in 2 languages simultaneously, keeping keywords in your images in both English and in German, so your images will be found as a breeze by the German buyers who all love PantherMedia service.
-
Great addition to PSM , cannot wait to try the new version. However when put my Panthermedia username and password on PSM my credentials coudl not be verified. I can log on on their website normally
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Laurent

As good as any other thread. Just so people know, I PMed David, got no answer, so I used the Prostockmaster site and got this.
<//[email protected]>:
174.132.149.61 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 No Such User Here"
OK has anyone else run the latest update and PSM stopped working, no Upload > Agencies when I click it, no Upload > Statistics. Nothing happens since last week. Or is it just my computer?
-
Yep, same problem here. Cannot access the agencies and do get statistics but SS has no info for weeks.
Looks like it's broken :-[
-
I had that problem when it did the update and went over to the Prostockmaster blog. It said to redownload the software if you had that issue. I redownloaded and stats and agencies are back.
Here's the blog link: http://blog.prostockmaster.com/ (http://blog.prostockmaster.com/)
Hope it helps you too.

Hi,
Same problem but i've found the solution on the blog of prostockmaster site :

I understand the SS issues, that's out of the control of PSM, but when I get a update on demand and it breaks the software, I'd think that the author would do something more than post a note on the blog. Also the support email address on the website is broken.
Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't be complaining if I didn't like ProStockMaster. ;D If it was junk, I'd just delete it and forget about it, but I like the way it checks stats.
Thanks for the help. I downloaded the new version from the website, installed it, and checked my sales.
-
I bought the program a few years back and I love it! I reformated my computer and lost the program. I contact the company via live chat and WOW they where great at getting me back up and running! Thanks Prostockmaster!

This software looks pretty good but I tried to use the free trial and it doesn't upload. It just doesn't work. The SS says uploaded but doesn't ever show up. The DT says uploaded but also never showed up and if IS was one of the selected sites the program would just hang there forever until I killed the upload. Two emails to support have been ignored. It's too bad. I was going to buy it but am sort of put off now.
So, if support reads this forum...please help me and maybe sell another copy of your software.
David

I have same problem but with Deepmeta, support can not help much with this problem...
They told me that problem is in type of firewall or antivirus program...
Prostockmaster works fine to me...

hmmm, firewall on the sites? I use a mac and don't run virus software or firewalls.

I think there was a change recently with the ShutterStock API, this returns the download data statistics, they introduced 'Captcha' so automated services cannot access the data.
This should not effect uploads but would stop the statistics, this also goes for Istock as well as they have done some recent changes to stop third party companies from accessing the API services.
David

When I have a few more files I'll try again and leave those two off the list.
Thanks. David

Yeah, Shutterstock, istock and dreamstime doesn´t work anymore (API-Reason) all other agencies working fine.

Yeah, Shutterstock, istock and dreamstime doesn´t work anymore (API-Reason) all other agencies working fine.
As real time statistics are not available it would not stop FTP uploads, does this really devalue the product, maybe a browser plug-in or something could be designed by ProStock to collect the data when you login to the website.
As the problem is the captcha on the website do the statistics update if you log into SS, IS or DT first and then run the update stats for that service in ProStock?
David

Hi David,
at the moment nope. I will contact "the other" David, maybe he can change some things.

If you purchace PSM will it stop working after 1 year, or do you just not get updates and tech support? Can I get the $29.99 3 month basic version, then keep using it for as long as I want? I would assume the functionality of it is the same as the pro version.
-
I tried the free version and liked it. So purchased the full Pro version. Never received an activation code email. I read on site that they have a 24x7 customer email service. Also said I will receive a reply within 3 hours. So...I sent an email and waited....and waited....and waited. Then sent another email. Two days later I am still waiting. They have charged my credit card. I just hope when they finally get back to work that the Pro version starts from when I enter the activation code and not from when they charged me.... :-\
-
Received activation code from David today along with apology...seems anti-spam filtering. I am uploading to several sites as i right this...so it's working just fine :D
-
I tried PSM out for the first time tonight. It has promise, but sadly, for some reason, it doesn't give me the option to upload most of my files. :(
That is, for most files, no sites are listed in the box at the bottom of the main app window. Though it does list them for a few files, so I know it works sometimes.
Very odd; has anyone encountered this, by any chance?

Only works for images that have been keyworded.
-
Thank you for the reply.
I should have mentioned, all my images are keyworded (in the IPTC data). Whatever the problem is, I can't see anything different between those few that it shows the site list for, and those it doesn't. :(

They have a "LiveChat" service at PSM. Does take a while for them to reply though.
I'm not having many problems uploading to 7 sites a day. Sometimes it won't connect to a site, but I just try it after doing rest of sites and goes through on second go.
Saving me a lot of time.
-
Thanks! If I have time, I'll give that a try tomorrow.

KB,
I use the trial version of PSM and have had the same thing (or something similar) happen. Try clicking on "Upload," select "Stock Agencies." That will bring up the list of agencies. If all are already selected (check marked) click "OK." Or, select the agencies you upload to, then select OK.
Hope that fixes your problem.
-
Thanks for trying, Warren. I did as you said, but since I had already checked marked the agencies, I just pressed "OK". It didn't make any difference. :(
I couldn't find live chat, so I've sent support an email. Hopefully they'll be able to fix my problem.
-
Does not seem to work entirely with Mac OS 10.6.1 Snow Leopard. Copy/paste doesn't work anywhere, neither does contiguous selection with the shift key.
Also won't connect to 2 agencies that I know have the correct log in info.
Emailed support, quick replies but basically just got shruggs from them... >:(
For Mac; not ready for Primetime.
