Hello friends,
I am about to submit 10 and 3 photos for qualification round in SS & IS. I think I have few good pix of people out of which one has been accepted in DT for editorial as i don't have model releases for them.
So i want to know from you guys that do we need to submit the model/property releases along with these 10 (for SS) and 3 (for IS) photographs for approval procedures ?

Thank you.

i also submitted to SS just now, and you need model releases for photos with people. IS i can't remember anymore.

so it means we cant decide in SS approval stage whether we want to post a photo for RF(releases rquired) or Editorial (releases not required). Its like posting 10 images for RF only.. right ?

why don't you send your photos to KeyIndia Graphics?
they'll also give you a free trial of keywording, retouching, restoration etc, according to your needs.
for more you can also visit newbielink:http://www.keyindiagraphics.com [nonactive] or you can also contact on newbielink:mailto:[email protected] [nonactive]

yes, you MUST have releases for the photos for the ss application if the photos are not editorial, and in that case they must be newsworthy, and have a titlle and description (heading) that says that. Check the form of the heading, they will reject you if it is not correct.

Example of Heading

COPENHAGEN - DEC 7: Opening Day, meeting at "G77 and China", delegates in the Bella Center at the UN Climate Change Conference on December 7, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I dont know about IS.

You are confusing license type (Royalty Free/Rights Managed) with image type (Editorial/Commercial). Virtually all microstock agencies sell under an RF license regardless of the image type. Royalty Free just means you pay once -use many times (without paying a "Royalty" -probaly better understood if you think of it as a Usage/Reproduction fee for each time the image is used).
For SS you can certainly submit editorial images for initial approval. Not sure about Istock as they were not taking editorial when I got approved (do not see why not though).
As Jens said above, editorial images do need to be "newsworthy" in some way (not just portraits that you don't have a model release for) and you must follow their caption requirements for editorial images EXACTLY. Seriously, down to dashes, semi colons, capital letters or not etc your caption must follow the correct format.
Good luck with your applications! Regards, David.

Thanks all for your replies. I asked this question last year. Now i am already selling images in these sites and probably now i understand what are different license. I think its time to close this thread.

Sorry, my bad. I only saw the OP saying he was already in (and thought it was an extremely belated thanks for those who had helped earlier in the thread.
I should have looked further up.
