Title: Site traffic tracking
Post by: Justanotherphotographer on January 11, 2017, 05:56: I was using Alexa to see what sorts of levels of traffic sites got when thinking about signing up to new site.

Now it's behind a paywall does anyone have any other suggestions for a similar service?

I know lots of people didn't like Alexa/ thought it wasn't very accurate. I always found it's levels correlated quite nicely with the amount of sales I was getting on each site so I don't particularly want to have that debate again.

Post by: increasingdifficulty on January 11, 2017, 07:02: No such site is accurate since they are usually require people to install some form of browser extension. What you get is a very rough estimate of how many people who don't know how to use a mouse visit the sites.

this one is good also: website.informer.com

Also, you can consider the Follow.net that aggregates several of the traffic estimates vendors in one screen.

They are all just guessing based on installed extensions that no computer savvy people use.

No one is telling that we will get access to the exact amount of visitors some site is getting right now but we can see the estimation of popularity of the site. And this estimation could show us that, as an example, Fotolia.com is way more popular than Stockami.com
